Cheaters?

What’s the recommended course of action, when running into cheaters?

I have a good reason to believe that I just played against one, although I can’t say it with 100% certainty.
He was named simply “sapphire” which brings up another issue, being able to change names at any time.
People using generic names like that, are hard to track down, at least so long as steam doesn’t properly track the people you recently played with on DB.

Anyway, this dude joined mid game, and fairly soon he was at the top of his team’s scoreboard.
I wouldn’t think much of that alone, but I recorded this super shady kill by him.

I don’t know if you’re being a smartass, or a big guy, but that TTK, all headshots, obviously.
I’m not saying that it couldn’t be skill or just luck, but I’m fairly sceptical about this stuff.
I also want to discuss this topic, because I find xingcode to be subpar, and I’m curious to know how cheaters are handled around here.
I don’t see a sub forum for reporting them, so I assume that people are fairly confident in the power of xingcode.

Maybe I’m watching a different video here, but there’s a single Skyhammer firing at me with an auto rifle, from the underpass.

nothing suspicious. You should switch to a spectator mode and record it from his pov to have a better proof. For me it looks like he just got lucky with heads :D. TTK was also fine, specially when you are a vasili and not a fragger or other heavy merc.

I’ve been playing too many shitty shooters that lack a spectator system, so I didn’t even think about it.

Gee not everything is about you. there is a MG is on the balcony above - a little further along - and its a cheap place to farm kills on newbies. I didnt say it was hitting you rather piggybacking on your thread about “shady” kills.

i thought the humor was laid on pretty thick in my post next time i will use a shovel

There are a lot of pretty good FPS players in DB. So a player joining a casual server and taking the lead pretty fast isn’t uncommon. Myself and most of the guys I played with last night do that all the time. Also, you were playing as Vasilli who has almost no HP whatsoever. Dying quickly is what Vasilli’s do. He got headshots on you which instantly killed you. People do it all the time. I’m not sure what is shady about any of that.

I clicked that YT vid expecting to see a guy spinning around and getting 4-5 headshots in the span of 2 seconds. Not a Vasilli dying in an unlucky manner which is fairly common to the class.

You guys are probably right about this being just a fluke, or something.
At least I’ll now know to spectate a player before drawing any conclusions.

Spectating and recording a video from their perspective is always better if the server allows you to do that. You can then review it and see for yourself if they are just a good player or if something is up. If something is up, then share. Or if you see a guy get a ton of non-stop headshots over and over which is sometimes called “rage botting” (love that term).

You can view players in recent games profiles I think. The video doesn’t reveal much to me, but from my experience a hacker is very bad at hiding it. Also, the difference between a strong aimer and a hacker when it comes to TTK is enormous. On a good day I’ll get a lot of headshots, am fairly aggressive, and average around 5kpm on most weapons, but a hacker has at least 1/2 if not more than my average TTK. You will also see them in perpetual IS as well, which is a dead giveaway.

My “Recently Played With” list isn’t tracking any matches played on Dirty Bomb, for some reason.
I would had loved to see if the guy has previous VAC bans, but I was unable to find his profile.

Either way, I’ve learned my lesson from this thread.

Another beta - another cheater. Just had a match vs a guy with a nick “.”. Still have no idea how the hell he died 6 times while headshoting us all with sky.

Maybe u are right in your assumptions srswizard and maybe not. Having paid for hacks in Counter Strike many moons ago I believe any non server side game is hackable. The art of hacking is making it look like you aren’t hacking, just looking like your a good player. Only a newbie hacker will spin around on the spot and get kills. If you google DB hacks there are at least 6 websites including a dedicated website to DB hacks. So I’m sure that there are hacks out atm. I view ANY player with double the kills of the next highest player with scepticism. They might be legit but I ere on the side of scepticism.

No proof, no woof. You can’t be sure until you have a good video footage of it. If you have doubts, tell a guy from the opposite team to check the screen of the suspect player maybe. So when a guy from the team with the cheater dies, he can check that guy’s game view to efficiently tell if the player is using some cheats, like aimbot (his reticle will always instantly move to the target, like if it was teleporting). Or maybe you can do it yourself, but I am not sure if you can check an enemy’s PoV.

Meanwhile, I think that reporting all websites that are making cheat engines available for that game would be necessary in order to allow the devs to try to fight it. It’s clearly not the most efficient way, but that’s a start. Also, I come frome TF2, a game that use Valve Anti-Cheat, and the system feels kinda efficient since I only saw a cheater in TF2 once. I don’t know if VAC is available for non-Valve games, but it can may be a very good addition, at least to fight againt cheats through the steam version… Not sure though, because I don’t know how everything really works.

I’ve seen so far a proxy player warping around and me landing no hits, it wasnt OMG this player is leet… it was like WTF !! this player is porting all over the place, now it might have been rubber banding but they had a score 2x that of anyone else and the warping char was blurring while moving, now there might be a ability/perk that does this idk, but it was hard as hell to land any hits on them.
Eox there are even DB hack sites atm that offer a subscription on there hacks (these are the best types from experience in CS)
but yeah, need some Anti-Cheat imo.

Are you sure that it wasn’t lag or something ? I sometimes have huge lag spikes myself, and in some games people says that I am warping. It didn’t happened in DB yet though.

About the the hack sites : perfect ! Report the to the dev team. PM MissMurder or contact SDs’ player support desk. This should do the trick. They maybe aren’t aware of the cheating issue.
