I think what people are really asking is “Is it really worth us sticking around?” and the answer since the start and even now seem to be “Wait and see…” lol

I like the part about player retention.
You could almost start an entire Thread for this with idea’s.
I would almost call it player addition… What makes games as addicting as they are? SD could sit down in their closed door meetings and come up with a bunch of things that are from other games but need to be innovative when it comes to a FPS’er…
Simple Questions:
What makes LOL addicting?
- Is it the league play? The Chance to get ranked and recognized?
- This can actually be used in a FPS! - OR is it the game play and skilled moved along with expert creep timing and money and skill management…
- This will not transfer over to a FPS. A FPS has aiming more then creeps. Totally different time management and skill set.
The only way I can see this working is if you can buy better guns and abilities throughout the match… Sort of like CS but what XP based… Not sure I like that… However a nade on every merc would be nice haha!
What Makes Clash of Clans addicting?
- Its a freaking phone App! For real! Is leveling up? The defensive and attack strategy to gain loot?
What Makes BF, COD or CS addicting?
- Fragging people!?!
- BF and COD xp, gun unlocks, fragging and STATS!!!
- CS = Fragging?
All these games and games like WOW have a lot in common for player retention and addiction… SD needs to make DB unique but also maybe borrow bits and pieces of other games to make the ultimate FPS, F2P, High Comp, High Skill game.
I wouldnt go over board on releasing 10 different game modes right off the bat either… I saw there was space for 3 but I would open with 2 and then have the 3rd as a promotional game mode like LOL does… Two main stay game modes: SW and One Life To Live… Focus on those two with leagues, rankings and matches… Pubs will be unique also I guess if you follow a LOL style as they will be old school and just for leveling but not ranking… So you basically have 2 ranking systems… This is good! an XP rank and a league rank and even more if you want to get technique like clan rank or player within clan rank so a person doesnt join the best clan and automatically think they are good when they are a sub haha!
SD you have a lot of work to do
GUYS guys guys
I’m not the type for these kind of discussions But:
If One of you would Pass a Week in Studio ,looking How things works and Hows much Time it take to be done ,
you would be suprise and understandable.
MayBe SD Didnt had a Complete Plan done for that Game at the first place and Though ,“Hey why not Make This Game… Built By gamers”.to help them make a game that gamers will like
First experience and …probably the last one .
Grace from SD … They respond to our anxious desire to know their next Title By Letting us in and participate to this development at a very very very early stage .Here we are ! to try to help them make this Awesome Game !
Yes not Having a Clear view of the game before letting us in was not the perfect move.
But Be happy you are here and see how everything goes… The Good and the Bad.
And then they were Plunged into this enormous pile of suggestions feedbacks comments contestation frustation etc…
They not Ubisoft nor EA they Have so much staff and cant make as fast as them.
They are smaller and want to do dat good game .
Meetings and meetings and again meetings on feedbacks are problably happend sooo often .
How many time they have to reconsider the Core Game or this or that …Probaly so often
and I think when Silvanoshi say there are many moving parts, its that .
One feedback Take few secs to write but to make it happend into the game could take Months !
They Know they not perfect on many points They hear you ! They try to find ways …
Lets be Patient ,Cool down and lets give them time …all the time they need .
Many of you are highlighting the fact that you would like to see improved communication regarding what we’re working on, the future of the game(what we’re aiming to achieve), and the areas in which we would like to receive feedback. That is coming. We’ve got articles on the way from every corner of the office that’ll highlight what we’re working on/looking to do, that will also stimulate discourse surrounding those topics.
As development continues, the ship that we’re steering increases in size; making it that much more difficult to adjust course in a nimble and responsive manner. With that said, we very much want to continue to receive feedback from you guys to steer the game in the direction that the community wants, as much as possible.
These articles will also go a long way toward improving overall transparency between the studio and community. We want to keep you up to speed with what’s going on as much as possible.
I know a small bit of frustration has set in for some of you, but I think you’re going to enjoy seeing more of the game come together over the coming weeks and months :).
/yawn heard this before… I think it was by Anti 3 - 4 months ago.
My response? Enough talking about it and just do it. My response to you is the same.
You guys love referencing ideas from the community. Which thread with strong community backing said to bring the stupid milk jugs back? Etc…etc…etc… Nothing but hot air.
How long does it take to make a game and keep it new? Isnt there already a new unreal engine out? Arent people going to be saying what engine is this on? Oh its the old one and that had mouse and net lag issues…
From what I see we have 50% of the game done. And with the very first talks of producing this game what 2.5 years ago we have 1 or 2 more years to go haha!
There is so much work to be done yet… We should technically still be in the Alpha… Match making and the core game should be done before Open Beta. I think of a beta as the software is ready and only needs a few tweaks to it. Not missing 50% of the content…
SD mentioned that it was a True Alpha and I totally agree but then I think they rushed the Beta…

Look at all the damage in 1.5 years imagine how bad it’ll be in another 2

Nihil nove sub sole…
I don´t really want to take away precious dev time (that´s while I am not quoting you, Silvanoshi and just hope youll read sooner or later ;)), to just read my dumb post. But there are couple things that I wonder about after reading the nicely written explanation why we wait for so long.
-
We are to huge parts alpha as well as some beta testers here, we understand that everything that is being made, changed or announced, can be withdrawn within seconds - that´s how things work out in betas (and before alphas) after all. That makes the argument of the “information” that needs to be checked and discussed before releasing not really valid, since it´s not public information we are asking for, but informations you could expect to have in a closed testing community. After all there are some people who payed some good money, to get a chance to take part in this testing and to let them wait months just for some informations about what is being worked on (and I am not taking about actual changes) doesn´t seem really honorable from your side.
-
When I understood you correctly, you seem to have trouble finding enough time to process the huge amount of feedback. Well, don´t you wonder why there is so much feedback? Why there are so many suggestions going in ALL imaginable directions? This is an issue that is caused by the current lack of information, and will remain the same, especially when you invite more people for testing, that will even have less clue about how a game like this could look like. I mean I don´t see any feedback from you about our feedback, that helps us to give you valid information back. There is no “that´s good and is currently on our task list”, “this will be on the task list soon, but won´t probably make it into the game” or just straight “we want to do a game that is blablabla, because of that elements like blabla doesnt fit, because blabla, but thanks for the feedback”. All we get is the usual “many important great changes will come soon, but we can´t say what or when”. It would help us to give you more and more precise feedback, that would be again more valuable for you, while probably taking off less time.
At the same time the feedback would become more specific, actually showing some signs of game development. For example I feel like we won´t get any major map changes at all anymore. Maybe some little fixes here and there, some new maps and that´s it. So I obviously always ask for them. In the meantime others are suggesting and discussing completely new game concepts, that require a redesign of 80% of the game, and what not… So I am not surprised that you have issues to find specific topics, with specific and appropriate feedback and just increase your workload for no reason…
For me it feels like SD is either in some trouble or just seriously doesn´t give a damn **** about what all the people think right now about SD and the work that is being done by them.
The first case wouldn´t be that bad - simple communication and some implementation of the community (like allowing some people to develop custom maps) would not only probably have sold many issues already, but also coordinated the forums to a degree where the community understands the struggle while still supporting you and probably exist in much more harmony with each other.
The 2nd possible situation sounds to be the case for me tho. Hundreds of threads, for which people have spend dozens of hours thinking and typing, are being ignored to the most part (and sorry, but just saying “thy for the feedback” isn´t enough when someone gives you a wall of text that is full with valid reasons and criticism about multiple topics). I probably could find threads wich are older then a year, asking for the same things people STILL talk about. And while not implementing some points we are asking now for ages sounds valid and was explained to us in some deatil, there are enough flaws and serious issues in the game that are being pointed out, while being solved with many solutions at the same time. Still there aren´t any changes, nor valid explanations why they aren´t being made.
Another point that makes me thin that you simply don´t care is that the game itself is as mess. Just the idea of putting a game that you want to make as fast and skillful as possible, on tiny maps that resemble rather the inside of a toothpaste tubes, then a place that allows all the game mechanics to breathe, is a misconception that is unthinkable. I am not going into more details here, since there are enough threads and a summary should be enough. The game feels like it´s being put together by force, by some people who actually don´t really care if it´s working or not, as long as it´s done.
Because of all that, I will stop writing anymore on those forums or play the game, until some official changes will either be announced (in detail) or be implemented into the game. And it honestly doesn´t matter in which direction those changes may go, maybe the game will become slower paced, to fit the weird maps better, or maybe we get some moba elements since we are fare away to have a FPS that can be taken serious by itself, or maybe we just get the FPS that most of us have given up already almost a year ago. I honestly don´t care, as long as I feel that there is actually a legit company with legit people who care about the game they are making and seriously want to make it a good and succesfull piece of work.
PS: Anyone who feels the same, just should stop playing or typing any walls of texts here as well. Maybe after some time the empty servers, no matter how many beta keys are being given out (I wonder, how many people do still play this game (F2P!!! and some people still paid to support you…), I guess <0,5%?) will finally make them realize how unpleasant the current situation really is.
agree. just to make it clear. we need some feedback on our feedback, so we could feedback on both - your feedback and those things left unfeedbacked in previous feedbacks (our feedbacks, not yours).
Yep 100% agree that’s why I stop playing and play CTF on shootmania !
Much more fun and we can do our own maps !!
Waiting for real info, update, and MAPS !!!

I do this already for the last 6 months
It doesn’t matter if you stop playing, cause you’re not the target demographic /s
I think we are not the target at all ! Maybe korean market is more interesting.
Not enough time to play at the moment, or even post on the forums, but for what it’s worth here’s my view on these things …
How many of you remember this :-
http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/40017-State-of-Play-Modes-Movement-Mercs-amp-More
That was less than 3 months ago, and you’re all acting like DB is a finished game and judging it as such.
If I were SD I’d be tempted to shut down the beta, go away for 6 months or so (or for however long it takes), get a lot of the work detailed in that thread fleshed out, then invite us back to test it.
The biggest problem with the current process is too many people are “playing” rather than “testing”, and treating the game like it’s done and it just needs some more maps to be finished.
I appreciate many of us have been around for a long time already, and SD haven’t helped the process by having major changes of direction during that time (classless objectives etc.), but even so this is still closed beta. It’s not open beta, it’s not final release, it’s not a year after release by which time some more content could’ve been reasonably expected. It’s closed beta, it’s not done, it’s still missing loads of stuff, and SD have set out their vision for the game (even if it doesn’t match yours).
Be honest with yourselves, on what basis are you judging it, really?
Well I think people are just being reasonable, because nowadays alpha = early access & beta = demo. Besides that I can also understand people getting anxious when they’re crying for changes to the spawn & general map design and all they get are weapon tweaks, new mercs & art passes.
Besides I think SD want you to play the game as you normally would so they can get valuable ECHO data.
