Say that one day comes along and i have all 10 of my character slots filled. i want to create a new character to try out a different build/body/strategy. has it been mentioned that a character can be deleted in order to make that slot available again? im assuming this would be the case, but after a search turned up basically nothing, i thought id ask.
Character Deletion
Well, I understand that character can always be respecced, but still good that they can be deleted.
What are the things that are permanent in the final build?
That’s good. I don’t think I’ll have to do that (with respeccing available), but it’s a nice options to have.
has it been confirmed as to the cost of respecing. last i heard you lost a level in order to do it.
In relation to character deletion
If I delete a character and want to re-create a new one with the same name
Could someone steal my name in between me deleting the old one and creating the new one?
I don’t think the individual characters are named. They all posses your account name be it LIVE, Steam, or PSN

Character names will be that of your Steam Account name and or Xbox live or PSN, there are no extra character naming in the game…
It would make sense to be able to name your characters when you create them so you know what one you are picking from your list, but that would be completely independent of the name displayed over you in the game anyway, which would be your gamertag/PSN ID/Steam name. Borderlands had a system like that so you knew what character was what when you had a bunch of them but you were still recognizable online by your account username.
I don’t think it has been confirmed one way other the other if you can name your characters though so I will wait for confirmation on that or see for myself when I have the game in hand.
The character selection screen actually displays each character’s level, abilities, etc right next to them, so it’s pretty easy to pick the one you want.
Pfff, I hope not. My steam account name is not what I want to use as a nickname ingame.
Question about these created characters. Where are the characters stored? Does Brink use steamcload to save files, controls and characters?
That would work too. Thanks.
Borderlands just had a list with class and level so the names definitely helped there.

you steam account name and your steam ID are two different things. you can change your steam ID name at anytime.
Sauce?
AFAIK we haven’t had it confirmed how naming will work yet
unique character, unique account, ununique character, ununique account, steam name, steam id, etc.
There hasn’t been a, “Secure your name with pre-order” this time, so this indicated is has changed
But how?
Do characters even have names?
If so do these appear in-game or are they for user identification purposes only?
To the best of my knowledge there has been no confirmation. Not that I know where this rumor came from.
Every STEAM multiplayer game I have played shows your Steam name. Don’t see why this would be different.
