Character Customization

(El3lanco) #1

When can we expect a more in depth character customization video?

(Echer123) #2

Soon, I hope.

(H0RSE) #3

yeah, the customization vid they have out is really minimal. It doesn’t show Light body type, it doesn’t show head gear, it doesn’t show off any voice packs, and the options it does show, it shows VERy limited examples.

A new, more up to date vid would be very nice.

(Nail) #4

have you checked the Brink site ?

(H0RSE) #5
have you checked the Brink site ?
yeah, they have the gallery and archetype page, but not any new customization vids.

(Lequis) #6

There is a demo here that shows the light body type:

from dohfOs when Brink was set for spring 2010.

In case El3lanco didn’t catch the initial one:

(El3lanco) #7

Thanks Lequis i completely forgot about that video with the skinny body type.

The type of video that i’m waiting for is one that doesn’t just show them making a guy, but one that also shows them setting up his abilities. So that we can get a idea of how that’s gonna work.

And like H0RSE i too would like to know what voice packs they’ll have.

(Corpse) #8

I do hope that there will NOT be a voice pack with an absolutely horrible Dutch accent. I absolutely hate that, even tho I’m Dutch myself.
I would much rather prefer an Irish or British voice pack.

(tokamak) #9

Totally. A Dutch accent is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

(Exedore) #10

Well, I kinda think a Dutch accent is just fine with a female voice. Lekkerrrrr…

(Hellracer) #11

I`m hoping for an Russian accent.

(Metal-Geo) #12

I was shocked some PS3 games adjust to the system’s language settings. No Dutch voice can replace the talented Stephen Fry in my LittleBigPlanet!

Either females are confirmed for BRINK…
or
BRINK’s Dutch voicepack will be done by females.

Hooo boy.

Anyway. I found the characters in the BRINK videos to have a somewhat… French accent. But no doubt am I alone on this.

There are females in the game you know…They’re just not playable…yet…Though I do believe it’s been confirmed that at the very least they won’t be in the initial release.

I want to see some gloves (fingerless, armored, bandages, etc).

On the website background, the characters have gloves, in the cinematic video some of them have gloves as well, and in first person your character has gloves. But on the archetypes at the official site, no gloves.

As for female avatars, they won’t be in the initial release, but maybe we’ll get them down the road (I think one of the splinter cell games got a female spy model after release, I think it might have been Double Agent, so it’s not unprecedented).

Yea gloves would be nice. They also the arm wraps but what about elbow pads?

Also it was Double Agent. But the skin was released for the GamerChix 1st then the public got it. So unless they do the same thing i doubt we’re gonna see any playable females.
What would be nice is something like a clan tag but a tattoo or something. Something you can customize other than the outfits and guns.

(light_sh4v0r) #16

The customization is APB (all points bulletin) looks strikingly similar if you ask me.

I heard that the gameplay sucks, sad that game devs spent too much time into characters customization instead of concentrating to the gameplay.:frowning:

(brbrbr) #18

don’t worry, you can say “i keel you, dirty capitalist bastard !!” even with German accent and be understood.

(BioSnark) #19

It’s not that bad. The problem is that weapons are unlocked over time and there’s a distinct difference in firepower.

@lightshavor: APB looks to have a lot more character customization options. Less stylish, obviously. Then again, APB is also a subscription MMO(tps)rpg.

(light_sh4v0r) #20

That could be quite possible. Judging from the video it’s not a game I’d like to play anyway. Was just pointing out the similarities in character customization style.
