Character Customization

same feelings.
Brinks seems more like “TF2 with Mirror Edge and Asassin Creed portions” rather than “improved/expanded Quake Wars”.
Brink seems great package of nice ideas and shiny GFX, but after you opened it[like rotten canies package], you find nearly zero atention to gameplay itself, selfish and PR-driven “imrpvements” only.
so in short, Brink creators make their baby looks more like other suff on [[crowded]market in [resepctable, but miscalculated]hope to improve sales]market, rather than keep game Own, unique face and rely more on solid gameplay, rather than improving press-review.

p.s.
“hit and run” sales strategy not works for AA and AAA titles in globalized economics.
you can’t say [enough]weak products, even on huge markets.
cause society don’t let you do this as well as not let himself to do such mistakes.
same was work for politics and economics “in general”[to oversimplify it “for dummies”].

p.p.s.
im hope im was wrong

woaaaaahhhhh there brbrbr! The discussion you quoted was regarding APB not Brink, plus it seems a little premature for you to judge gameplay having not actually played it.

Personally I still have high hopes for Brink, I really like the additions of character customisation as I love being able to attach personality to my character or have my clan play in themed outfits.

From what I’ve read there’s still lots of what made Quake Wars fun in there, but without that initial complexity that put a lot of players off.

Lets just wait and see how the game is when we get our hands on it rather than getting all depressed on pure speculation…

(LyndonL) #23

Well said CleaverDancer.

(light_sh4v0r) #24

yeh Basiley, I was talking about APB not Brink

(brbrbr) #25

APB ? ok then.

p.s.
"without that initial complexity " ?
thats what divides/differ Quake Wars and Doom/Quake. aside teamplay-related things in gameplay/settings/mapmaking.
anyone fearing “complexity” in FPS can happily play Serious Sam or Painkiller or Blood 1.
Kill&Kill&Kill. takeoff spinal brain and shutdown rest parts of yours[god/devil only knew what for].

i wanna kill him - real bad.
brbrbr, please write normal sentences…you are freaking me out.
And kill the one who teaches or tries to teach you English! ffs…

(iwound) #27

i think they just made the wrong choices. i found the custom bit more enjoyable and a lot less frustrating than the game, in which btw i took an hour to change a weapon even with instructions. i mean why do i have to change a weapon at a vending machine ffs. its all about choices.

(Icemonkeyjr) #28

Thank you lequis! i had never seen that sneaky camcorded demo, cant wait for brink, cant wait to creat my own badass and i hope there are overwhelming amounts of outfits and such.

The Women Characters thread is locked so I thought I’d post here:

Brink (Splash Damage) is getting bad press from Kotaku regarding omitting female avatars… Blown way out of proportion if you ask me. They’re making out as if it’s some societal statement.

So my reports finally reached their goals! niark niark niark

IMO Kotaku lost any semblance of gaming blogging integrity a long time ago. There editorial focus is drawn to unashamed hit inducing headlines (see above and stuff like the “whoops did we just bring up the RESI 5 is racist thing again”). I also grew tired of the personal bias that started creeping into frankly pretty factual news pieces. Sure I probably miss stuff by not visiting the site but much like Destructoid, wading through the interage inducing trash just wasn’t worth it.

(BioSnark) #32

heh, but how will you ever know the top five hottest female game chars or Crysis# versus MW# screenshot comparison?!

(SockDog) #33

It’s quite the conundrum for sure. I might give them a try again in mid-June when their moral outrage at Brink’s omission of female models for practical reasons is replaced with their extensive “E3 Babes of the Day” coverage.

(Reanimator) #34

The hypocrisy is strong with this one.

(brbrbr) #35

stroggs is strong.
but not enough.
to compete with humanity.
poor creatures.

It is worth noting that females who played that would often just change the text colour in their names to pink or something which at the time seemed to be enough.

Oh shi…:frowning:

(.Chris.) #37

Many do, so what?

Instead I’ll just show my opinion about that piece of quality journalism in a simple animated smiley:
