Changes to Anti-Hack Policies - Zero Tolerance

(meat) #81

Yeah SD has echo data but does Nexon have it also because they are going to be the ones supplying the GM’s monitoring the game.
Lots of players have doubts to the competence of a Nexon GM. I sent in a report on a hacker thru their support system over 2 days ago.
Still not sure if they even looked at it. Last status check shows the only action is that I submitted my report.

The speed of them acting on reports of hackers is extremely slow. Can’t wait to see how they handle them when the game gets more players, and lots more reports of hackers.

Edit: after 2 days I finally received the following copy and paste response from Nexon

"
GM XXXXXXX (Dirty Bomb)
May 15, 10:29 AM
Hi there,
Thank you for reporting this issue. I am sorry that you had to encounter this abusive player, and rest assured that appropriate actions will be taken on this account. We really appreciate your support and efforts to keep Dirty Bomb a clean and fun environment.
Sincerely,
Sr. GM XXXXXXXX Nexon America, Inc.
Security Tip: Please do not give your password to anyone for any reason. Nexon representatives will NEVER ask you for your password.
"

It only shows that they received my report, still doesn’t show that any action has actually been taken. How long is this supposed to take?

I don’t want to sound sarcastic, but it’s going to be quite a revolution if you will manage to ban even one person permanently in an F2P game’s open beta.
In my opinion the only efficient and actually sensible solution to deal with hackers in an FPS game always was to allow the community of players built around a particular server to create and maintain a blacklist of game IDs preventing them from entering the server. Sure there was lots of moderation to be done with it, but you have to admit, active servers in older games had this matter get taken care of in a swift manner. I’d make a comparison between that and what I think you’ll manage to do, but I’m quite curious about how you want to tackle the issue.

Good luck.

Wow now this sounds like it needs a lot of transparency on your end. These GM things sound like a terrible idea. Who are these GMs? How are they competent? Etc etc

“Predictions”:

  • Nexon will be replaced with another publisher.

  • XIGNCODE will be replaced with an anti-cheat (XIGNCODE is just a cheat-block)

  • Intended target audience will be lost before the publisher has been replaced

  • SD will make a new fast paced, team game, with a new publisher.

I would prefer veterans as investigators than nexon’s GMs. Do overwatch system like in CS:GO and set high rules to get access.

maybe more wishlist than predictions, but yeah, xignpoop and GM’s who prolly don’t even play (they ain’t MissMurder or CC_Fang) don’t instill any confidence, Nexon has already proven they’re barely capable of running a forum or game servers, I might suggest a lot of in game problems aren’t game code, but running too many servers on MissMurder’s lappie

would be nice if the hack report link worked :frowning:

(BomBaKlaK) #88

SO many cheaters since 2 days … XIGNCODE feel absolutely useless …

(stealth6) #89

Just stop investing money in Xign and start investing in Volcano. I think he’s caught more.

(prophett) #90

Gave up submitting evidence of cheaters. Waste of time.

(spookify) #91

Just take a screen shot of their name and have the right server and time and be done with it. I am sure Nexon can look back at that server data and make an easy ban if they are blatant.

If you are talking about demos then yeah I would stop haha.

Something does need to be done because in comp its getting a little ridiculous.

(BomBaKlaK) #92

Cheater names are for the most part : ∎∎∎∎∎∎ or maybe ∎∎∎ or just ∎
How to report this ? This is just a massive joke for the moment … and a really bad joke.

The problem is: There’s no feedback on the actions (if any) taken by Nexon. Yes, a friendly template thanking you for your effort, but that’s about it.
Not knowing if anything comes from spending time on collecting this evidence, makes it imho just non-productive to do.

I can understand that the laws around personally identifiable information are very restrictive, but I’d wager to say that confirming if a person that got reported for foul play on your service got banned or not, is not falling under those statutes.

i told them just exactly same thing. they do not give a damn.

So far Nexon refuse to change their “no name and shame” policy, for this reason perhaps its better to report to a public location (e.g. Reddit), then link this to someone that can do something about it.

(FireWorks) #96

Just wondering how I get the server I play on and where to get their steam name/ID.

At least the server name could be visible in the Scoreboard GUI.

(NoSoup4U) #97

This is on their fix list, afaik.

#98

Ive asked for servername before, AFAIK the answer I got was that the serverbrowser is not permanent solution, and they want to have 100% quick search eventually (=servernames will be “not needed”)

(Mustang) #99

Server browser isn’t going anywhere.

(FireWorks) #100

A hardcoded name filter for raising flags might be worth the 5mins coding too… Just had another encouter with a guy advertising his website.

lookiselltheseawesomecheatsatmywebsite.org should be an autokick, no? Or let them play around for demoing and then set it at the top of the cheater checking queue.
