hey SDteam…i am having this very anoying problem…when i host a server (dedictated) and try to connect to my own server i get this error message: “CD key in use at different ip”…wtf is this? i never had this…everything always work…until now…PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ help! i really love the game…and i wanna play it NOWWWWW

It’s an issue with Punkbuster and Lan servers, if you dissable Punkbuster it should work fine. It’s something that we’ve already fixed for the full release.

It will also happen if you copy your install to another computer, and try to play from both. You need to actually run the installer. It may also happen if you obtain a new ip via DHCP. In either of these cases, it should clear up in a few minutes.

If you copy the install across, just delete the etkey (or whatever the m’fluff it’s called) file.

Punkbuster fixed this, it is on their front page

pb_sv_lanmask 192.168.0

or whatever your local IP is

I dont know if this is the same prob but me and the mrs r both linked and i can play et fine on my one.but when comes 2 her playing et on hers the map nearliy loads and then it crashes it says something like…et has caused a error in [unknow]and needs to close if u contine 2 have these probs try restarting ur comp…

now she is running windows me
1.6 p4
384 of rimram
64ddr rad 7000
30 gig hraddisk

and btw…we both play wolf fine and other games.or could it be that i copy and pasted it into her folder?do i need 2 d/l et on2 her comp?

I have D/Loaded et on her comp it worked once i came out tryed another server and it does the same thing as above :banghead: :angry: :banghead:

Can someone help me as i like playing online with her[not only that she keeps kicking me off my comp :frowning: ]

p.s or if can u say if it will fixed in the full verson??

I think i have sorted this prob out :clap: :clap:
I decided 2 buy windows xp 4 her as i have xp on mine as well.but when i done a fresh install of xp on her comp and when i was installing et on the comp it said something about directx 8.1 being installed [i thought xp had that built in?]anyways i downloaded 8.2 directx and bingo it is now working :drink:

well anyway thought i whould let everyone know just in case anyone else is having the same prob :banana:

hmmm

i have heard a lot of storys about diectx 9 about how bad it is with some cards etc…
do u think it would be ok on me mrs card?

For me Dircetx9a has help improve my overall system performance. Im sure if you check the dirctx site out there should be a list of known issues if any.

Overall i think having the latest drivers is always the best way to go

well i did have directx 8.2 on it.it was working but then it kept freezing :banghead: so i then took your advice about directx 9b
put it on her machine it seems ok so far but when go 2 quit server etc…\quit…disconnect…exit… it comes up with et has caused a error and now needs 2 close.send error bla bla bla…part from that it is playable.
also the graphics on the weapons r strange.the colours dont look right but it aint that bad[i know that aint normal as it looks ok on mine]

will keep ya posted if anymore pops up :banana:

well after a lot of testing i have sort of found out the prob :???:
if it is a fresh install of the game it will work on her comp.if u go on2 a couple of servers it will work 4 a bit example…I was playing on it in the day time went on about 3 servers working fine,then when nite time came she went 2 have a go.it all loaded up as norm but when it got 2 the limbo it just froze and it will happen every time now. then i have 2 restart her comp :banghead:
so wot i have 2 do then is reinstall et again and then it will work 4 a couple of servers :clap:

just thought i would let ppl know just in cse they have the same thing.very strange though never seen anything like this before :???:
