cd key in use at different ip address

got this error… umm… wtf?

i thought i saw a post about this here before but nothing came up in search…

how do i fix this?

The ET GUID Auth Server has just been updated to correct a bug that sometimes caused the “Cdkey in use at different IP Address” message to appear for some players on some servers when it should not have appeared. Please let us know via email to support@evenbalance.com if you receive this message going forward when playing on Internet based ET Servers.

That happens when you exit the game the “hard” way (e.g. crash, your cd-key is still registered with the master server) and you reconnect to your internet provider (you get a new/different ip). So your old ip is still registered at the master server with your cd-key. Simply wait a few minutes until your old ip is deleted due to inactivity.

here is how i fix it.

  1. start game
  2. disable punkbuster
  3. restart game
  4. enable punkbuster
  5. Try entering server again

so far it works like a charm

i found it even easier just to delete “etkey” from the install folder
and bobs ur uncle :wink:
