NOTE:

You may need to restart your client to have access to the ‘Casual Match’ option in the menu. Or you can try going to another screen and returning back to the home screen.

With every new Casual Matchmaking test there are often a number of unforeseen issues that sneak in. To collate these as efficiently as possible, we’re creating a single Feedback Megathread so you can let us know what issues you run into. This way, you’ll have a much greater chance of having them seen by our QA team than by creating a new thread (we only have so much time for bug-thread hunting!)

We want both GENERAL FEEDBACK and BUG REPORTS! For general feedback, just let us know your thoughts. For bug reports however, please read below:

Before you make a bug-post please do a quick check to see if anyone else has reported the issue you have experienced. If so, simply like their comment and we’ll know the severity of issues.


Format bug reports: When putting a bug into the comments below make sure that you give us as much information as you can. If you can remember any of the events leading up to the issue it can help us find the cause quicker.

BUG TYPE: Matchmaking

Title: CMM Instability with poor internet connected users (fails for entire people in lobbies)

Description: CMM does not work well with very bad internet connections. I queue’d up with a friend with a poor internet connection and we had a failure rate of 100%, they either lost connection during the lobby or failed to “accept” the match.

[left]Type of Bug: after leaving Server, wasn´t able to continue game
Description: left a Server before match ending, returned to menu, pop-up with something like: “there is an ongoing match, if you leave early you may be punished”, 2 Buttons: “Exit” or “Continue”, if pressed Exit game was crashed and shut down
Video / Screenshot: missed to do one
Steps to reproduce: join a pregame Lobby via casual matchmaking, let it start normally, Play some time as usual, leave the Server, before you can do any Action in main menu the Pop up should occure
Result: game shut down/was aborted
Expected result: should have returned to main menu, maybe with a Little “block time” before joining a new pregame lobby
Reproduction rate: 3/3 (always after Relaunch), probably as Long as match was running

I believe the button was meant to Exit the Server, if it was meant to Exit the game please delete the post :wink: [/left]

H E L L NO!!

Sorry but I am a guy that believes in the saying “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and the regular “server browser” option was perfectly fine! I am sitting in a queue for 5 mins for what exactly!!! I was able to join whatever match I wanted in seconds now I got a 5 min wait to get put into one I may not want to be in…

Sorry but now I doubt I am going to play until test is over as I got other games I can play that don’t put me in some queue for 5 mins.

Type of Bug: Matchmaking Bug/Party Bug
Description: After pregame lobby party leader unable to join game.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make party.
  2. Invite player.
  3. Make him leader.
  4. After that player must give leading back to you.
  5. Find match.
    Result:
    Leader will be unable to join server when countdown became to zero. After leader will be in party, but another player — in the game.
    After second player done play, leader try to play again… but… penalty.
    Expected result: I wanna play!
    Reproduction rate: 2/2

I’d love to report some bugs but I CAN’T PLAY. Server browser was the only way I could play this game. I’ve been trying to join a game for 1 hour but I only get “maximun skill range reached” or “One of the matched players didn’t accept the match”. BTW I’m from south america, so I assume ping is the issue.

Dear Splash Damage and beloved Shoe,

Type of Bug: UI Bug

Description: When spectating and press TAB it will show a loadout card of the spectated player on the top left corner but then it fades. Just managed to have a glimpsed of it.

Video / Screenshot: I will edit this once I managed to get it ASAP

Steps to reproduce: Press the tap out button ‘K’ or just die or just spectate players and then press TAB. Pay close attention to the top left corner.

Result: Loadout card faded

Expected result: Loadout card remain
Reproduction rate: 10/10

By the way, server browsing is awesome and CMM is good too. I understand you guys want us to have balanced match but CMM is not a really nice way to do it unless it is separated respectively. For Newbies to start off would be in CMM to avoid being bullied by High Level Players. Also, are Level were supposed to be hidden during matches?

P/s: Keep being awesome and it’s time to play DIRTY!!!

Not sure if I’ve said this before, but the Steam forum’s modding tools are user unfriendly and counter intuitive as all hell. I’ve managed to fix it though.

1st game i played felt balanced (we still lost tho :’( ), i really wish i could see the other player’s levels to know how hard im about to get crushed.

Pros:

  • You can party with friends
  • Post game scoretable

Cons:

  • It’s taking too long to find a match, even without skill margins
  • No merc limit is retarded. Amount of RageQuitters increases
  • No penalty for leaving pre-lobby
  • waiting 45 secs to load a map is too long
  • Objective mode is unfair, most of the time, defenders will win
  • You can’t queue for multiple modes at once(to bring diversity to casual gameplay)
  • Servers are not responsive. Constant lags and model stutters
  • No stopwatch
  • Ability to remove maps from map pool is retarded

TL;DR; CMM should never be in game tbh. It’s too late to change peoples mind.

The matchmaking really needs to handle back-fill. I had multiple games where people left, and they are never replaced. One game was a 2v6, and there was nothing we could do because shuffle and team swapping is disabled. The system should take solo players and put them into games that are missing people.

I liked it. It was good minus one thing. There is no merc limit.

the match making today was awfal!!! it takes a lot of time to find a match and when it does the teams wasn’t balance at all. Another thing that was annoying that after the match, you return to the lobby and doesn’t have oppertunity to stay in the server if u want so.

  • Type of Bug: in game UI
  • Description: Surrender option missing from vote menu for the first 5 (or so?) minutes. Might “work as intended” but is unbearable.

  • Steps to reproduce: During lobby a player left, so the game started as 5 vs 6. Shortly another player left, turning it into 4 vs 6. So I pressed F5 with the intention of starting a vote for surrender. Sadly, the option was not there (yet) although I already participated in several successfully surrendered games during the CMM test.
  • Result: Had to sit out pointless game
  • Expected result: Vote menu includes “Surrender” option as soon as there are less than 6 players.
  • Reproduction rate: 3/3

-Ability to remove maps from map pool is pretty dumb for a pub… I personally think there should be a minimum or 3 or 4 maps that must be selected. This is especially important in Ranked!!! Teams just rolling one map to Elite running the same strat over and over is NOT COOL!

The CMM worked great for me. Instead, at first I was never able to join the Quick Game, but with CMM I was easily able to join servers in which my ping was also reduced as compared to joining a server manually on SERVER BROWSER.

I request you to please make the CMM option permanent.

P.S.: Right now, I am not able to play CMM as the option has vanished. So please do something about this. Any kind of suggestion will be highly appreciated.

As my feedback i say

  • i noticed that merc change is working slowly in pre-game lobby
  • There were few tests of casual mm before, this time you could add stopwatch to make sure that everything is fine since ranked is stopwatch only.
  • Ranked matchmaking should have one merc rule, on test met C4 team and we were spammed by nader’s rain. But in casual you can make uhm, 2-3 same mercs limit
  • Maybe on ranked pre-game lobby add ready buttons so game can start after everyone ready up and everything is fine with your team setup and loadouts (if you queue solo)
  • During the test i have seen rage quits and players didn’t got penalties for leaving.(i know because my friend quit lobby because he wanted to invite someone to team but it was too late soo he quit game and didnt got penalty)
  • Since the test was about starting ranked season and if we talk about penalties, add double penalty if someone quit game DURING match or few hours ban for ranked.
  • Some matches weren’t balanced and other team just got stomped.
