Capture the Flag mode

Probably already mentioned before, plus its an option in the survey. Just curious on how many people would like this game mode and if so what type of elements they would like in it.

Element such as, flag carrier is never visible on mini map or in game only when spotted by redeye or heartbeat sensor ect.

Or the flag carrier sould always be visable, or shown on screen every 6 seconds or so ect ect

yeah KOTH could work, ive just found in my experience CTF has more team play than KOTH.

but I think it could work in this game, would be hard to get right I reckon

I really want CTF. However, there are two things I see in the way. A: New symmetrical maps required B: Objective specialist should have a use. Yes mines and sentries will be useful but Engineers should still be useful for their engineering in my eyes. Could be through Side Objectives.

@RyePanda There could be some kind of open-able container that holds the flag one must steal or covers the delivery area? Nothing too long to be opened, but something engineers could do on the fly lightning fast. Could see such thing jamming public play though since people rarely synergize together well and is quite confusing, just throwing it out there.

There could be side objectives to make getting the flag easier and/or engineers could deliver faster.

They didn’t add CTF for the same reason they don’t have TDM. They don’t want a mode which is about random fragging. A poll isn’t going to change this, unless Nexon comes and twists Splash Damage’s arm behind its back.

The day CTF or TDM is added will most likely be the day I stop playing Dirty Bomb.

I feel CTF is absolutely fantastic mode, when done correctly, not only points you towards teamplay (flagcarrier in DB is restricted to melee, so he needs support, and either pickup or delivery area is in enemy territory so you cant just march in without often a tense gunfight) but is also one of the modes that in my opinion cater to all kinds of players.

You need to cover your flag from being taken, and at the same time need to attempt to steal the enemy flag, so you’re both attacking and defending and need to act accordingly in order to succeed. Everyone has something to offer at any given time of the match, so picking mercs based on questions like “are we attacking or defending?” is not that much needed.

TDM attitude is something that is already visible in Obj and SW nevertheless. And will be also seen in Execution. And that spawns from playerbase’s mindset, not from gamemode itself.

Or they could just give the flag to the engineer at the delivery point.

My ideas for CTF below.

Maps:

  • Across River Thames (London)
  • Trafalgar Square
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Westminster Abbey

Gameplay: Each team’s base has 2 important locations.

  • Transfer Room
  • Flag/Intel/Data Cores Room

Each Data Core contains 100 Terabytes. You must steal the Data Cores and get them to your “Transfer Room” in order to wirelessly beam the data to the CDA or Jackal. It takes approximately 0.5 secs to beam 2 Terabytes, during this time, the enemy can return the Data Cores, just like in Stopwatch and OBJ. First team to 300 Terabytes wins.

Or, just steal Intel like TF2.

OBJ specialist utility:

  • Beams 4TB every 0.5 secs. (Twice as fast)
  • Plant, defuse, repair random generators around the map.

I like the idea of this because we won’t have 5 Engineers sitting in their intel for 30 minutes like in TF2.

we would have to find a way to make this mode possible on the maps we have now also I think, not just maps for this mode in the future.

I see a lot I people questioning the use of a engineer in this mode and I’m also questioning it.

being able to pick up the flag faster? maybe.But that just makes defending easier if there is a time limit before you can pick up a flag imo.

another idea would be to set up blockades that can be destroyed and repaired to block or open other routes. but seeing how these maps are made for a more gradual progression with only 3 main chokepoints at each checkpoint it would be difficult to pull of I think.

just imagine your on the attack side of chapel, and you have to get past the point where the EV ends, to pick up the enemy flag. defending that one choke point would be a cake walk I think.

bridge would be one map where this game mode could possibly work. and that execution map.

I cant see this mode working on other maps tbh

I kinda regret voting ‘‘Not my thing’’, if i could change it i would change it to ‘‘If the mode is done right’’.

@gg2ez Should be 6TB every 0.5 seconds as Objective Specialists do everything objective related 3x faster than the other mercs.
