Can't play this game offline with bots?!

I bought this game in MicroCenter a while back. I play it offline exclusively against bots on my laptop but I noticed that I can’t play it offline against bots if I don’t have internet connectivity. If I get too far from my router I get the “the update server could not be reached” message. Why do I need internet to play by myself against bots?

I already downloaded those stupid red-cross Haiti ads (they are everywhere, on every map/billboard) What else do the developers want? I paid for the game at the store AND the ads were installed, what else do they need from me? Why can’t I just play offline?

Auto-update? I don’t see that option in the settings menus. Where is it?

Nope, I can’t. I select my offline profile, then select “Play on Computer” and then when I select the map/mission and click “Play”, nothing happens, until I get that message that it couldn’t contact the server. It appears this game requires internet for single-player/bot gameplay. Is this their version of DRM or something?

As for disabling auto-update, I couldn’t find such a option anywhere in the settings.

You’re doing it wrong then, works fine here (with network cable unplugged).

Strange. I just now turned off my modem and started the game. There was a delay, then the couldn’t contact update server message, then the profile selection came up as normal. I clicked the (online) profile, there was another bit of a delay, while it was figuring out there was no connection, then the main screen came up. Selected play computer, game loaded fine.

Don’t know.

works fine for me offline as well, but you can try adding

seta net_updateAutoExecute “0”
seta net_updateAutoDownload “0”

I just tested this by creating a new account. I was successful in playing a game offline against bots. Perhaps you should try to make a new account just for a test, make sure you click, “Create this account for offline use only.”
