Here is how i install ET on a fresh Windows 7, 64 Bit machine. However there is no guarantee that this will work for you, as i am not using some of the ‘standard firewalls’ nor do use any other programm that will prevent my ET from connecting to the ‘outer world’.
First, get yourself et.exe This one here should be an official file, however i think i have mine from somewhere else, and i also see there is already a patch included. However i will try to explain the basic way to get you running ET. First download this => http://www.splashdamage.com/content/wolfenstein-enemy-territory-barracks
Next install ET in a directory, where you got full privileges. My path settings are inside the users directory: C:\Users\MyUserName\wet1 The username directory ‘MyUserName’ must of course be replaced by your own username.
Next is dependend from what you have downloaded and installed so far. I assume the binary files from SplashDamage already give you a full patched ET version 2.6. To determine this just start up your ET and open the console and look at the lower, right corner. If there is standing ET 2.6 then you are good to go. If no, then you have to download yourself a patch and patch your ET installation to version 2.6 first, before proceeding. This file here should do this job for you => http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/ET_Patch_Windows;39483
After now having ET installed and running it on version 2.6 you need to patch it to version 2.6b (at least this is what i always do). You can of course play on version 2.6, but i think it will leave you with most servers beeing unaccessible (not sure). However to patch to 2.6b, just download yourself the patch selector here => http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/Patch_Selector;62755 Follow the instructions in the readme file to install it correct.
If everything went good you now have ET version 2.6b and are good to go. Next is to update your PB and start up your ET with administrator rights.
Updating PB goes here => http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
Starting ET with admininistrator rights goes with right click on the exe file, and there chose ‘start as admin’ (this description could differ, since i am having a version in my language). Otherwise PB will kick you for inadequat OS priveleges.
Ok, this was it. Do you still have any problems after following all this ? Let me know. I have installed ET on my fresh ET Windows a few days ago, so i think everything should work fine (driver issues and other weird stuff excluded).
Hope this helps to get your ass owned
Greetz
