I find it a lot harder to understand where i’m being shot from in ET… most of times i have to start a complete 360º and stop when i find the shooter… in RtCW I could understand from the 1st shot i took the direction these shots were coming from… am I the only one noticing this?
can you tell where shots come from?
well killer,
try messing w/ your sound settings, or update sound drivers
or try putting your headphones on the other way :
no, I mean the animation itself, you could understand even without sound where you were being shot from on rtcw… doesn’t happen on ET
When u get shot u get a blood splash animation on your screen, dosen’t this indicate the direction from which u r being shot?

still, it sounds different. i’ve always played with cg_bloodflash 0 but on wolfy I was able to understand where I was being shot from in the first moment… something changed in ET can’t say what
killer,
i have no idea what youre saying - I find the 3d positional sound in ET to be great, just as I remember wolf was. I play by sound alot, and I always know where people are.
Do you mean the tracers and/or smoke puffs, sparks etc. (where bullets hit surfaces)? Are they not kinda the same as they were in RTCW?
Your field of view still gets smacked around depending on where you were shot. Being knocked forwards means you’re getting hit from behind, whereas your view jerking up means you’re being hit from the front. Aside from that, headphones are a good way to figure out where you’re being shot from.
Half-Life used a system of the red bars that would pop up showing you where you were taking damage. I don’t recall Wolf using such a system. I turned off the blood splash animation when you get hit since the last place I need my vision blocked is in the middle of a firefight.

I’m with k1ll3r. It’s much easier to “feel” the direction shots come from in RtCW than in ET. Teamkillers and other social misfits must love having a go at me coz I often spin around like a thoroughly confused thing when I’m being shot. Oh well, at least I’m providing amusement for someone
same tbh, though i think less tracers seem to get drawn in ET aswell. maybe its different # of tracers geting drawn, maybe its the different config, maybe its the higher demands of ET making less tracers be drawn, maybe [most likely] im just imagining it. Actually even in wolf the tracers are weird, sometimes it draws lots of them sometimes I see none, no matter how many people are shooting around. Weird stuff with the flamer aswell, point in one direction and tap fire then spin 180 and tap fire again, i get a wall of fire between the two points. doesnt actually take damage, just gets drawn on the screen. shrug.
I have exactly the same experience. However, my take on this is that I’m not that experienced with the maps yet. Knowing the wolf maps by heart you would know directly the possible places where the shooter could be. With the new maps in ET I still don’t know every hiding place. At least I hope that is the explanation
