can you change the port for Enemy Territory?

hello, my university blocked the port ET uses, so I was wondering if theres a way through the ET console or a program of some sort that will change it. any help is appreciated.

net_port <whateverportyouwant>

However, that only changes your end. If your university has blocked the port the servers use then you are out of luck.

i tried changing it to 80, it didn’t work. MEH! anyhow, do you know ET’s default port so i can change it back?

(SCDS_reyalP) #4

you can type
/net_port
and it will show you both the current and default values. The default is 27960. The same thing works with other cvars.

you have to do a net_restart after changing the net_port btw… Unless you put it in a cfg or smuffins

could he still connect to servers that aren’t using default port?

(Salteh) #7

Who are you asking? :o

(Nail) #8

everyone, anyone

(SCDS_reyalP) #9

That depends entirely on how it is being blocked in the first place, which we do not know.

well, it may be coincidence, but a college net admin asked me which was default port cause his college network was bein overloaded with ET players, I told him to block 27960, next day we have bordes question about the very same thing. I assume he blocked it from outgoing traffic

So basically if we would find a solution for bordes you would make sure it got blocked?

nah, way too much trouble, honestly I really don’t care if they clog the network, it ain’t mine
