Can we get just a LITTLE clarification?

Looking for just a LITTLE something here. The spawn system is shockingly bad. I find it hard to want to play after 3 minutes of attacking. We have been asking for anything but what we have right now for around 18 months?

You spend time adding things like “help a team mate up” which I haven’t got a problem with in the slightest as it isn’t a half bad idea. The thing I have a problem with is adding something that COULD be useful if one of the core features of the game was fixed. I often get the reply back that you are looking into it or working on something new. This should be at the very top of your priority list because it is crippling the game right now in time.

You have once told me to add a Poll to get the general feeling of the community so I am going to throw one up. Please give your feedback on the spawn system and why you like / dislike the current state.

I know, I just want something more than. “We know there is a problem” or “something new is coming soon”

Soon doesn’t cut it for me right now. Some of the updates recently have been GOOD but not amazing. The one thing I think we all as a collective community feel we need is a working spawn system. I would try anything apart from what we have right now!

It seems so strange and broken at the moment. You /kill on low spawn and you still wait 5? Both teams on the exact same spawn wave? You can see the other teams spawn time on the scoreboard? On top of the fact that its WAY too short in most cases. I’m confused.

I don’t care much about spawn system. All I wait for is finally the much asked for sounds for pigeons and rats.

I upgraded to the $320 package after they implement the undead sound pack. The wails of screeching wraiths and banshees is exactly what this military, arena, cartoon shooba needed. DB really does have it all now.

I’ve said it 18 months ago in my many lengthy posts. The spawn system needs to be addressed before further “fixing the maps”

Spawn times for me. The new adjustment in the last patch is kind of odd, like BMXer mentioned. I /kill at 1s to spawn and still have to wait 5s :confused:

Same, you get loads of ammo when you spawn, killing guys is super fast and health regenerates, so unless I’m in a pub game with a massive kill streak the ammo crates are broken and we don’t have a field ops on our team (note I usually play field ops anyway) then there is zero reason to respawn.

But that certainly is a fail in the respawn system, as is defenders having such a fast respawn timer compared to attackers, likewise the average waiting to respawn time of 5-10 seconds is too low for both teams, and the leniency if you miss a spawn wave seems too great.

The part that I do like about the current system is if you are incapped and a spawn wave hits zero you can choose to respawn or wait a few extra seconds for a revive, but if the revive doesn’t come you can respawn instantly, because you already caught the timer rolling around, instead of having to catch the next one instead.

Oh yeah, I also don’t get the “press J” thing, it never seems to work, and if it’s going to stay I’d rather it was implemented as a “you’ve got a free respawn” icon in the HUD and the action button was the same as the one bound to /kill (i.e. K by default).

So overall recent changes have made things worse rather than better.

TL;DR Keep the respawn at any time after the timer hits zero, but change everything else.

That’s another major issue with the spawn system. Although I can understand the “noob friendliness”, it completely ruined the common spawn wave system which encourages not only teamwork, but also secured at least a half-way organised push on pub.
I’m not a friend of easy games, so I say give the players the opportunity to make decisions and if they decided wrong they should also take the consequences (e.g. missing a spawn wave, because you were waiting for a medic instead).

Multiple ideas have already been posted till today… current in use is bad.
Spawning at same time is bad.
Seeing enemy Spawn time, well why not - we already got inbuilt wh with some sniper. Although I would prefer some merc having to spot the enemy spawning to get that time for the team.
The moment to spawn, waiting in line to spawn, when will you actually spawn … and those things - broken. Its graphic representation is broken -> out of thin air - magically - some mercs are there.

Reminds me of Trickjumping actually, didnt that look bad and to erratic for DB? But now we got walljumping… now that looks bad and erratic.

Maybe if you want to please everyone… get a vehicle delivering a new round of mercs each “Spawn”. Like a helicopter or a car landing in spawn zone.
Thats the moment you spawn, not sooner and not later. Have a tickets which don’t define the outcome of the match, but how soon you will spawn and how often.
Just think it through the “spawn” system. Can’t be that hard to solve properly.
Lastly I can imagine the J button to be sold some day, that would fall under pay-to-win btw.

As many of you are already aware, we are indeed working to bring improvements to the spawn system. Once implemented, we’ll closely monitor the feedback that we receive via both the forum and the Echo to assess whether any further adjustments are required.

What would be really interesting to hear from you right now would be the specific areas of the game that you believe to be affected negatively due to the spawn system. What mechanics, features, gameplay or user flows do you believe are hampered due to the current spawn system? We’re looking for specifics here, elements like the aforementioned concern surrounding the value of ammo refills for example.

The reason for what might appear to be a rather straightforward request is that we want to ensure that perceived issues in certain areas aren’t being incorrectly attributed to the spawn system.

It’d be great to see more of these specifics in the responses below :).
