Can someone from Splash Damage Please Clarify this

As an RTCW player, I can appreciate the whole XP thing, but really:

Players should earn XP for completing objectives for the team, not trying to make themselves look good on the after round roster.

Really, I know the answer (or at least I think I do), but I am soooo tired of these people.

Please, set the whole XP thing in proper perspective for some people. I understand what you are trying to do there, but some people just don’t get it.

Et can either be good or mindnumbingly frustrating. Please clarify: XP is not the goal. Winning the maps for your team is the goal. XP helps, it is nice (but limited on stopwatch and helps out alot in campaign).

Please get those morons off the XP habit. I am only asking for an official Splash Damage reply. I really don’t care what others have to say (except for Kendle cause he is a balanced person).

i just want to say something, you do get XP for completing map objectives, such as constructing and dynamiting items

Some servers immediately load the next map after one is finished, so you don’t get time to look at the scoreboard. Ofcourse there is always one little shit that needs to clarify in what ways he just pwned us last round :smiley:

Btw has anyone IP’s of no-XP servers I can’t find them anymore :frowning:

Gambit, you’re not going to get any clarification from SD on this. They made ET for pubs, and, knowing that pub players play for themselves first and the team second (and why should it be otherwise, the “team” is just a bunch of strangers who mean nothing to them), they came up with a system to promote teamwork, by devising a system that attributed points for doing things other than kill the other team.

All well and good, but it obviously doesn’t work as intended because it’s fataly flawed. It rewards players for performing a function, nothing more, nothing less, which isn’t necessarily the same thing as helping your team. Often it is, but not always.

I’ve given up denouncing XP. Just stick to Stopwatch servers and you’ll be fine. Even better, join a Clan and learn what real teamwork is all about.

christ kendle, the boy said he doesnt like the XP system, rtcw doesnt have XP, hence why i said keep to rtcw. stop trying to make a fuss.

tetris also has no xp, so if you remove the xp from ET you get tetris

Who’s making a fuss? RTCW also doesn’t have Covert-Ops, Smoke Canisters, Team Doors, Disguises, Landmines, Rifle 'Nades, Constructibles, Mobile MG42’s, or any of the ET maps. These are the reasons I play ET. XP doesn’t make the game, it spoils it, IMO. Take away XP and you’d have a fantastic game that’s miles better than, and vastly different from, RTCW.

Anyone that tries telling people to stick to, go back to, or start playing RTCW just cos they don’t like XP WILL get it in the neck from me. :smiley:

Once again, u transform the thread into somamt its not, its about XP, not any other ET features. He could easily use/make a mod for himself that doesnt have all the features he wants.

I suggest you go make the mod as you are so enthusiastic about proper game design.

And, sorry to bother you, but I think XP improves the game, it adds a new dimension to the whole ‘start with everything’ convension in current MP games.

on the side note, something that stopped displaying the score on the scoreboard may be a better idea. But removing it completely woud just… suck, imo.

No need, it already exists. It’s called ETPro and has options to lock XP and/or set XP levels.

Your opinion doesn’t bother me in the slightest, you’re perfectly entitled to it. My opinion, as insignificant as it is, is that “power-ups” are for Super Mario Brothers, not multi-player online gaming.

As you are yours, but, considering mario bros is probably one of the most popular games of all time, and that what u get in ET are not power ups (quad is a power up, a power up lasts for a finite amount of time) youve kinda screwed up your joke.
