Can shrub disable the ability to spectate from people?

Went on a server I strongly suspect of containing wallhackers.

The set up of the server itself seems suspicious:

  • No punkbuster
  • You cannot spectate from players’ point of view (IE no way of getting proof).

Server is DreadZone 10 Map No Reset- IP = IP: 207.36.232.26:27960

Can shrub be set up to prevent spectating like this?
Either way, I’d not recommend it (didn’t realise it wasn’t PB’ed until I left and went to copy the server details from pathfinder to here). I did try searching for a forum or site for the server to see what the admin had to say about it, but no luck.

If anyone is bored, feel free to try it out and see if you have same prob as me - guy I suspect of wallhacking is called Axel Foley.
Innocent until proven guilty of course, mind - just it’s a bit tricky getting proof on this particular server

Teams can be speclocked in ET. I would say this is far more likely to be a result of someone loading competition settings than an attempt to hide cheating.

Nah it wasn’t the ‘black screen’ effect, you could go spectator and zoom around the map, you just couldn’t press your ‘fire’ button to cycle through the players from their point of view.
Was very strange - I’ve never encountered it before but then I always try to steer clear of shrub servers (and ones not running punkbuster too, so I did really good with this one ;)).

nothing in the shrub manual, might be some ET commands u dont know of, just dont play there

// g_spectator (0) is a bitflag with the following properties.
// 1 - free-look spectators can click on a player to spectate him. If the click doesn’t point at another client, nothing happens.
// 2 - When spectator clicking is enabled (1), a “miss” cycles to the next client that can be spectated rather than doing nothing.
// 4 - Spectators continue following a player when he goes into limbo and respawns (same behavior as in RTCW)
// 8 - Spectators go into freelook mode after a spectated player limbos (4 takes precedence over 8)
set g_spectator “5”

Probably some mix of the above… we run it with “5” at ND80’s.
