Hello everyone having some problems installing Wolf ET. I download the Exe. Try to run it like basic Exe’s, but it asks me to open it with another program. Idk what to do. This has never happened to me before…
Ok may have figured it out, will fix this post if it doesn’t work…
Got it to work last night, but forgot to update the post:P
Had to download the game EXe from another site.
Same problem here.
Unreconized file type, after the download.
Why is the official download from Splashdamage not reconized by Win7 (Ultimate) 64bit?
Only the 2.60b patch is reconized as a zip.
I tryed a download from filefront.com, and it gave me a nice trojan that stole my e-mail passwords, since than i am sending hughe amounts of spam trough out the world, grr.
Finaly managed fixed this, so i am not going to use any other download than from here.
Both Mcafee and Windows security Centre comfirmed and found the trojan.
Mcafee support also confirmed there was a trojan inside the filefront download, also the keysetup for playing the game was totaly weird everything was binded to the keypad.
Please need help, always downloaded from wolffiles.de, and that always worked fine.
Maybe this is the reason no one plays et anymore.
Would like to get a word from someone from Splashdamge about this.
Can you point me to the link, where you found the trojan ? Or maybe it is just a false positive, did you check that ?

it’s a full 2.60b installer, no mods, maps or other bloated crapware
Both MCAfee and Windows Security Essencials warned about the trojan.
I also contacted the McAfee help centre they also confirmed its not a falls possitive,
and that it was a trojan to steal e-mail passwords.
McAfee site advisor now gives a waring about the filefront download.

Can’t remember if the trojan was inside the wolf.exe or in one of the patches,
i think it was inside one of the patches.
All key setup for playing the game are totaly different than the normal keyconfigs, so its clear they offer a “tweaked” version of ET.
One day after downloading it, i sended more than a few hundered spammails a day trough the e-mails accounts i had on my pc.
This is also confirmed by my e-mail provider.
I noticed this because some 50 mails ware bounched back to my e-mail box,
saying mail can not be delivered.
They were all send by: Slovak University of Agriculture, using my e-mail adress.
On the otherhand, i play Enemy Territory for seven years, and i instaled ET for my selfs many times.
The Wolf_ET game is seen in my version of Windows as type: File, so not as .exe
The patch 2.60 is seen as File also and not as .exe
The et_patch 2.60b is seen as .exe
And yes i clicked on the right file for windows.
I use Win7 Ultimate 64bit, IE 9.
Well, not to sound offending, but you just keep on installing a custom et.exe with this, right ?
I would recommend to do a completely new install of your Win 7. Actually, i really would like to see you coming here after this reinstall and tell us that the exe on ET Barracks site get recognized.
(Win7 should be backwards compatible with programs compiled on 2003 for Win XP.)

I offer him a one step full install that works every time and you want him to re-install his O/S so he can see if Fileshack works ?

Downloaded the game from ET Barracks site 'bout 2 weeks ago, works pretty good here. But you could be right, it could be the filehoster (“shacknews” here). My bad.

But i still would suggest him to reinstall his OS lol. Viruses tend to behave like that
lots of people have had that problem with Fileshack, sometimes just appending a .exe works, but my file works every time and results in a clean 2.60b install,
btw, as you must have noticed when I told that kid to get a new drive I was punishing him for pirating Brink, not solving a problem
