Can ET have the +alias bind?

(Chack) #1

Well, everyone who played q3f or cpma will know this. There is a special way to bind a key. In q3f it works this way:

bind x “+alias blub”
set blubdown “say hi”
set blubup “say lo”

This way, if you press the button you’d say hi, and on release of the button you’d say lo. Of course this one is a rather pointless script, but it could be quite handy with dropping medpacks on the fly and stuff like that. And considering SD have implemented the same thing into the q3 engine, it shouldn’T be too hard to add it to ET.

i do belive it exists, tho im not a script junkie so dont know it off hand

hidehi.

o/ Chack… took yer time finding ET.

Anyways, afaik the Alias aint implmented. Only on the fly kinda thing I could think of would be summit like:

bind x vstr healthgive
set vstr healthgive “weapon 6;wait <weap switch time>;+attack;bind x vstr healthstop”
set vstr healthstop “-attack;wait 10;weapon 3”

Dunno if this would work or not, probs need to be changed… idea basically press x to change to health packs, drop as many as possible then switch back to smg when x is pushed a 2nd time. Basically the 2 push to gren method.

And hihi Domi. Lovely Trolling  Same thing I got ‘banned’ for apparently, funny how it wont happen to you. \o/

It does exist in ET. It’s called +vstr and works in exactly the way you’d expect.

set key-down “say Hello”
set key-up “say Everyone”
bind x “+vstr key-down key-up”

hi there pgh!

Oh, and while I am on it, is there a way to make class configs exec automatically? like medic.cfg everytime I go medic? e.g. cg_execclassconfigs 1

Nope (but I’ve aksed if this could be included in ETPro and one of the developers indicated it was on their “list of things to do”).
