Camera Scripting?

Was wondering if anyone here knows how to script camera movements like you see in 4Kings - 7 of a Kind or Extinction: mamut.si. It’s something which has always bothered me since i have no idea how to do it but i’d like to know how to.

Done a but of research, and found this. I’ll read it when i get a chance, but the test clips don’t work :frowning:

Get Camtrace3D and read I am new to Camtrace, How to start?. MovieMod is included in ETQWPro but I don’t think there’s a version for vanilla ETQW 1.5.

Alternatively if you have Maya and Lightwave you can use them, see Darkangel’s ET:QW Scripted Camera Guide.

Let me just say I dabbled with it before, and two years ago there wasn’t enough reason to put in the effort it requires just for your ten ETQW friends to have fancy free cam. Serious frag movie care status died many years ago in ETQW.

QW is only worth hand controlled free-cam at this point in time lol. I wish there was more fun movies, but they all be srsbzns pr0 mod in 2011. I appreciate the fun ones though.

Hmm, when i first tried it it created the .qwcp (or whatever they are) files but now it doesn’t. I’ve tried re-installing CamTrace but it still won’t create the camera positions :frowning:

Cam speed + demo free fly + pro cam aim skill. Save yourself the stress, trust me. I don’t think it worked on Vista x64 when I messed with it a year or two ago, and definitely not at all in promod.

I know thats easier and less time consuming, but the only thing stopping me from using that is that i can’t get smooth curves with the mouse :frowning:

If you want smooth curves you need to mess with the demo cam speed settings. You also get fairly smooth records if you press forward+left/right too. I am pretty sure that’s all you can do without an update for the mod.

Maybe usefull for trying out angles by spinning around the player in third person: pm_thirdPersonOrbit 5

Gave up and used free-hand, managed to get it as smooth as i could by putting my mouse dpi down to it’s lowest value (200). Made a non-serious almost epic troll using a tactic you rarely, if ever, see. (I suggest you turn down the volume if your not keen on Metalcore/Screamo or if you don’t want your ears to bleed since i ramped up the music a tad to much)

Lol nice. I have a good memory from a few years ago when adhesive kept trick jumping into the vents with a rocket launcher and the other team couldn’t figure out where he was killing them from haha.

I just love etqw movies even “toaster quality” (Rex quote). Just as long that it shows how skilled someone can be when he/she gets slightly lucky and has balls to try something stupid like jumping alone inside on sewer last obj. Just amazes me how the good players make things look so easy and effortles i.e point and shoot nothing to it.
