One of the things that keeps me playing the Original RTCW is the game physics. They allow for some things that are seldom usefull in matches but wind up being pretty fun to do. Strafe jumping, climbing into hard to access map places, and “med jumping”.

All of these seem to be either not present in ET or present but not effective. I guess my question is what makes the physics sooo different between the two?

? you can straffe like a mofo in ET. They made great straffe jumpin maps too. I dont think the physics are very different, but the maps clearly are, and youll just have to explore all the tid bits they bring to the table. Give it time lad, this game is amazingly well done.

wooohooooo, go med jumping :stuck_out_tongue:

LOl, n00bs were wondering if i was cheating somehow, cause it looks like you arent crouching when u do a med jump or running revive right :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe I’m an idiot, but what’s “med jumping”? I’ve never heard of it before.
And I’ve noticed that the maps have clip brushes everywhere you’re not supposed to go. They’re over the tunnels and buildings and all kinds of places that would be fun to hide in.

Med jumping is the following:

(Warning: don’t do this with people u don’t know)

  1. See a teammate in need of a revive.
  2. Run up to him and drop a gren.
  3. Revive him.
  4. Jump back and watch him sail up into the air about 30 feet.

Some people try to use this as an advantage during gameplay to overcome obsticles. (i.e. jump someone over the wall on mp_beach) While this is kind of cheating, the person landing takes damage (sometimes gibbing  ) and the two peeps usually get ambushed before they can pull it off. So you usually see it during warmups, and when you’re just goofing around on a map.

As far as the jumping goes it’s basically what the mapper forgot to prevent. I dunno if they planned for it or not, but some of the basic maps that came with RTCW have the best jumping spots. mp_depot and mp_base have some very cool spots to get into.

Hope that clears things up.

Radar has atleast one bunker entrance that you can climb on… - I got shot to the back from there today.

strafe jumping is there, it just needs a little more laid back technique. i do prefer the wolfenstein implementation of it, but it may be because im so used to it.
there are hard to reach places too, i havent looked around that much but check for example C,3 in siwa oasis.
