Bunny Hopping issue

Yes, I can hit them, but it’s fking stupid to have 4 or 5 enemy perma-jumping across the entire map “carrying bombs”.

And no… it’s not a “pro-tactic”… it’s sh!t.
The devs promote this kind of moving style in their own videos and supported people doing jumping and movement tutorials in the last beta.

So I really don’t understand where you expect to end by nerfing jumps.
This just defeats the purpose of this game.
If you aren’t able to land hits on a guy jumping everywhere, just take your time, as long as he is doing this, he’s defenseless.
And carrying bombs + jumping everywhere, of course people do that. Personnally I won’t make a detour to fight an enemy if he’s not defending properly. Sneaking rapidly into the defense is probably one of the best way to set objectives on.

(chartreuseHome) #22

No, you don’t understand … I am not talking about wall jumping, long jumping etc…

I am talking about simply straight line jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump …

…NO tricks involved… simply moving the hitbox, they are NOT using the tricks…

There are supposed to be limits on the number of wall jumps you can do already, but the bunnyhopping is unrestricted, that is what I am talking about.

(B_Montiel) #23

Honestly, the regular jumps are long enough to let you guess where the enemy is going to land. I never had any trouble with this.

(Szakalot) #24

sounds to me like people are using ironsights too much

it is restricted
the more you jump in a row, the slower you get

its easy to aim at jumping targets

(APRenpsy) #26

I actually want people to jump, makes everything easier for me, as someone who plays TF2 where everyone rocket-jumping all over the place. It is pretty easy to guess where the target will land once they are in the air, it not like they can strafe in mid-air in this game.

(NEWater) #27

Or conc jump in TFC. xD

(Alchemy) #28

…and also turn this game into a regular cod/cs like shooter ?

The ability to move more freely than any other recent game makes it special. Removing bunny hopping and wall jumps would kill the spirit of the game itself.
uh no. u are so wrong. in real combat im pretty sure i didnt hop all over when i was getting shot at. bunny hopping is something that shouldnt be in a fps unless you got jetpacks like tribes.
I’m pretty sure Dirty Bomb isn’t trying to be a realistic shooter. Also, there is no bunny hopping in tribes(or dirtybomb). Tribes had Skiing, which wasn’t intentional. It was a bug in which if you pressed jump(space bar) really fast and went down a hill you kept the momentum and built speed which later became skiing. But it made the game so much more fun, fast , and open that the devs kept it in.

So to finish,

uh no. u are so dumb and wrong. so pls stop typing.

There is no bunnyhopping in DB. Pls show a video of what you are trying to describe so we can see " 4 or 5 enemy perma-jumping across the entire map “carrying bombs”

btw they don’t carry bombs it the obj they don’t blow up. unless you mean the c4 in which every one has them, it’s like a knife/melee weapon, so they can set them at the obj.

(yakcyll) #30

Yo, why so hostile?

Jumping doesn’t necessarily decrease your accuracy (correct me if I’m wrong, but afaik, there’s no bullet spread in DB, so your gun actually shoots where you point it), it’s a matter of learning how to aim while jumping. Same thing with the receiving side, you just gotta learn how to follow. Actually jumping hinders you more than it helps you, since once the initial arc sets in, it’s hard to both strafe and aim at the same time; that makes your movement somewhat predictable. Yes, it’s annoying, but only at first - later on you’ll appreciate some people still don’t understand that jumping makes it easier for you to hit them.

So yeah, if you don’t like it, you can either play a lot, get used to movement patterns and slowly become more accurate and confident in your ability or you can quit.

And no, there ain’t no bunnyhopping in the id Tech 3 sense in DB (although there probably could be, but it’d have to be simulated and thus consciously implemented by the devs). There’s a lot of skill to movement in DB and if it seems confusing at first, it’s because the game itself is chaotic. One accommodates to it fairly quickly, depending on experience, so just give it some time.

You are wrong.

: )

All weapons have spread, its just that its way way smaller than most games you know. Jumping (read: one, maybe two jumps) can be viable in close quarters, or with shotguns at very close/close distance. but otherwise you won’t be able to hit anything.

(Nail) #32

all movements have accuracy penalties

Even easier then, this does nothing except make them slower; easier to hit targets. This isn’t even really classified as bunny hopping it has very little gain for someone doing it.

(Kaktuz) #34

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

(bubblesKeyboard) #35

So, just to clarify, you aren’t worried about bunny hopping. Bunny hopping is used to move faster than running by covering more distance/second than you would jumping rather than running. What you’re worried about is people jumping side to side as part of WASDing to evade. Personally I don’t see any problem with this; it adds skill gap to the game and makes it more fast paced and more enjoyable to spectate.

On a personal note, I find that when i jump and people adjust to my chest in mid air, when I land they’re able to snag a headshot or two which usually leads to me biting the dust because my chest in mid air is about the same level as my head on the ground. It also slows my WASDing quite a bit due to the decrease in speed. I only find this effective when dealing with snipers, shotgunners, or jumping in and out of cover so someone aimed at my peak corner wont be able to tag me while I move out. Also effective in very CQC situations (ie Proxy charging you with her Cricket Bat of Doom and Disgrace)

(Fake nick) #36

Do something to stop all this **** crouching thing during gun fight all over…

…or its just another game ruined by “pro tactics”…

(Cyphre) #37

The oddest part is that if someone was to engage you in combat, they would have to jump and aim down at you, where you would really only have to aim up at them to counter.

Can’t say I’m really a fan of all those classic Counterstrike moves, but its like asking them to stop people from quickly strafing side to side because you can’t hit them.

Crouching is actually extremely horrible, I never do it unless I’m hiding behind short cover. Not only does it limit your movement but it makes your head easier to hit. Just practice your tracking man! Download QL and go into a match with the LG only or something, and then come back and roflstomp after a while.

A quick&old crouch&switch direction trick can be very useful against experienced players who will strafe-lead your head
