FWIW, this is on a listen server, not sure if dedicated is the same.

It also seems like the prone/ungibbed body hit box is very tall. This may explain some of the unexpected gibbing, and the fact you don’t need to crouch to revive as much as you did in RTCW.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s been that way since the test. Looks like Splash Damage doesn’t care :frowning: I never knew the head hitbox was THAT far off though. I always just aimed for the stomach when shooting at someone prone since that seemed to kill them fairly fast. I find the one when they are waiting for a medic even more annoying though. More then a few times I’ve gibbed a teamate while shooting over them visually, causing me to not only miss the enemy, but to gib my teamate and then have then enemy shoot me.

Some more testing shows that this doesn’t always happen, but it doesn’t matter if it is a listen server or not. Sometimes the headbox is in front of the body, like it should be.

g_debugbullets also puts messages like ‘leg shot’ ‘body shot’ etc in the console. They don’t correspond to the model very well. I didn’t think to check whether they give different damage or not.

As with RTCW, the head box doesn’t track the model very well, even when it is not bugged. Looking up or down will moves the model a different amount than the hit box.

I’ve had other problems with the hitboxes myself.
Today I was crouching over a soldier firing a mobile mg52 and nifing him. I got 0/6 accuracy point blank :banghead: and got killed.

That explains why I’ve tk’ed a few ppl.

I’ve had a few instances when I’ve been standing behind a buddy who’s prone and I’ve looked through my scope, shot at an enemy (friendly teammate was not visible in scope) and tk’ed team mate. Since then, I’ve just made sure not to fire any shots (scoped or not) when I’m behind someone laying prone.

Wow, that really needs to be fixed.

Another thing. This means that going prone behind the crates you use to construct the bridge does NOT protect your head. If you are axis, just spray over the top of the crates, and you can headshot the engineer who is completely hidden behind the boxes. :eek: :eek2: :eek3: :uhoh:

I’ve done similar to that a few times. When sniping, sometimes I fire shots over the crates because I know someone is prone behind them. roughly 1 in 5 shots will hit him even though there is no player in my sights. Dirty exploit I know, but sometimes the red mist settles in and I’m gone…

Perhaps this is so they can still be knifed from behind? The hit box on top looks like the exact place you stab when you sneak up behind someone prone.

This obviously also explains why snipers cant hit allies’ heads when they are in the tank. Just shoot for their gut and their helmet will fall off :banghead:

Ive read the post and no one has said anything about cheating yet. Ive seen people NOT KNOWING of these hit boxes still take down guys in two shots. Is it safe to say they cheat? Keep in mind this is not a one time deal.
