Or at the very least, an option like g_enemyTintEnabled. g_buffGlowEnabled, perhaps?
Because I personally find the glow effect very out of place, annoying, distracting, and quite honestly just plain ugly.

I can agree to this. Would rather have the icon right up along side metabolism, kevlar etc.
The glow isn’t horrible, but its a tad distracting.
Even though there’s way too much stuff on the HUD already I’d prefer the icon over the glow as well.
It would also be nice to be able to tell whether you got the normal buff or the improved version

Anything but the glow. :([/QUOTE]
I am with this guy^^
Also, thanks for posting this, because I could not figure out, for the life of me, why the hell my gun was glowing orange.
At least add a option

Also needs a specificly different icon for double boost or single boost.
Agreed, or at least something more low-key than the current ‘glow’. The textures on the guns are generally pretty nicely done, but they’re wasted by the buff effect which basically ruins them.
I was thinking of something like a faint red outline, but actually Metal-Geo’s solution is perfect.

Loving this idea. I think I like this even more than an icon. You got my vote.
Either the color change for the weapon windows, a small plus icon in the weapon windows, or a buff icon would be fine. The orange glow can get annoying. Much like the Combat Intuition graphic, IMO. It’s annoying to the point that I’ve opted to not get Combat Intuition because of it.
Your loss as Combat Intuition is one of the most broken skills in gaming history. It’s basically a damage indicator that triggers before you actually take any damage. With so much emphasis on flanking, Combat Intuition ruins the stealth aspects of Brink all by itself.
I’m lovin’ the idea of a small + symbol near the gun icon. Very minimalistic. Perhaps combine it with the colored gun icon for the double buff indication?

+100000 for this.
WAY better then the friggin glowing.
Another aspect of CI that I don’t care for is that it requires the enemy aiming at you to not be on your radar. If they are, CI does absolutely nothing for you. Not necessarily a big deal, but you can’t always have your eyes glued to your radar display, and having CI pop up could still be beneficial in that situation (then again, now that I think about it, that could cause CI pop-up overload, cluttering your screen and making it very difficult to see). I think I’d prefer it if CI keyed you in on people aiming at you from off-screen, rather than have it based off radar.
And I do agree that it hurts the stealth/flanking aspect of the game. Depending on what the enemy is using and the range they are attacking from, CI might not help you one bit though. I figure if CI pops up and it’s from off-screen, chances are the person lining up the shot is gonna drop me anyhow. If I’m not mistaken, when fired upon the blood splatters can indicate the direction from which the fire came from. If that truly is the case, then CI really isn’t that necessary, IMO.
I fully agree with another way of showing this.
Is there a way tell the difference between the tier1 and 2 buffs now?
Oh and when were talking UI, can we please get a less transparent grenade refilling icon? In many cases I cant tell how long it will take to reload or if its even already ready.
Ah yes! When the grenade is refilling, it’s already orange. Which is good enough! The extra transparency is a bit too redundant.
Wait what, call me blind but I haven’t noticed my gun glowing. I was actually wondering how to tell if I have a buffed weapon, I was relying on my memory for that.
