Buffed gun as icon, not glow.

(Metal-Geo) #21

You sir, are blind! (Good enough? :))

Your gun slowly flickers with a brown/orange glowing tint when it’s buffed. Which not only looks weird, but it’s rather distracting. Especially when you’re using the sniper scope.

Truthfully, I’m quite surprised you never noticed this. It’s a rather obnoxious effect.

(Inofor) #22

Haha, I just went and checked: I had noticed the effect before but I thought it was a shader bug, such as sun shining through the roof (I got an ATI gpu so I didn’t see anything weird about this). Actually, on container city this doesn’t stand out very much. :stroggtapir:

(FireWorks) #23

And on a map with red “teint” like shipyard or container city its hard to tell the difference. Why not a building up circle like the ammo

(DjIceman) #24

+10000

The buff glow makes weapons look absolutely disgusting.

(TheDuplex) #25

but the weapons must glow, so the enemy can see that they are buffed!

(DjIceman) #26

I haven’t noticed that once and frankly, that’s something you just don’t pay attention to, when in a firefight. At all. Ever. Period.

(Metal-Geo) #27

Did you ever retreat from a fire fight because the enemy had buffed guns and you didn’t?
Quite honestly, I never, ever paid attention to that.

(Indolo) #28

Agree, replace the glow please.

(Hurlbag) #29

Agree with OP, get rid of glow on enemy character models too while they’re at it.

(Mustkunstn1k) #30

Meh, hasn’t bothered me. It quite un-noticable, specially when compared to the previous versions of the game where it was very strong. And there is always the fact taht you want to see if your enemy has a glowing gun or not. I could go either way - which means a choice would be the best option here.

How about more glow then?

(FireWorks) #32

More glow for the weapons of other players would be fine! How else could you tell that they have a buff?

But I think the topic is about the user interface and there it is a problem to have a glowing gun. While its not under all light conditions sure if you got the buff, you simple cant tell if you got the model switched off (showgun 0)

(jeez) #33

Dont fire until you see the glow on their weapons!

Imo weapon glow is mostly useful if you play engineer, ya can see from a distance which teammates got the buff and dont need to jog over to check like with kevlar. Id like to see something to be able to differentiate between normal and improved buff on the icon tho.

Being able to see it on the enemy only serves so far as you can tell they got engies worth their money

(iezza) #34

Ok, made one for double buff: using metal-Geo’s general photo

(Rosie the Riveter) #35

Metal Geo’s idea of an orange gun icon in the HUD is an elegant solution.

I thought the glow was a NVIDIA driver glitch until I read the forums LOL
It really is distracting

(Link.) #36

I don’t mind the current effect, but as long as the modification is optional, it can’t hurt.

(Stormchild) #37

It’s a different thing how you are seeing your own buff, and how you are seeing other’s buff, also, depending if they are allies or enemies.

I suggest that for your own buff, the HUD bottom icons tint is a good idea because it is less distracting than a disturbing oblivion-style glow.

For the other players, maybe the glow is not so bad as a way to identify buffs.

(Kurnuttaja) #38

I also thought it was some kind of lighting glitch or something and yes it is rather distracting and ugly. I agree about metal-Geo’s excellent idea for this, just remove the glow somehow.

(GlobalWar) #39

I always have a hard time to see the enemy’s weapon glow anyway so for my part it’s just a different color icon

(ataliba) #40

agreed… remove the glow, and make all the other grafical annoyances optional, such as the oultine in the objectives and teammates and the red glow in the enemies.
