Buffalo = NPC?

Thats a terrible cough you got there Fab, and a nasty squint maybe Dr Bongo can give you something to make it go away.

Well the Strogg Technician can make a spawn point out of a dead GDF, so that probably takes the place of a vehicle in getting players to the front.

I’m only worried about Rambo Technicians running to an objective and killing a GDF, setting up a spawn, and then having a team-mate bypass the fighting to plant/hack/etc. I’m sure you all have lost a game in ET to a Covert Ops and a few other enemies going a back way that isnt guarded much… now all you need is a Technician to make that run (and a GDF near the obj).

It would be a whole different look at tactics though.

what i’m interested in is whether the number of maps where the strogg can attack is nearly equal to the number of maps where the gdf can attack. or are the gdf the attacking team, and the strogg the defending team most of the time?

(Fab) #25

Based on the story it should be the GDF defending. I dont think all the maps will be like that tho… would get to repetative. Hopefully it is about 50/50.

I’m sure Activision wasn’t too happy about that 70% score you guys gave Quake 4 where you seemed to dump all your D3 frustrations on the Raven game. Quake 4 wasn’t perfect but it deserved quite a bit more than what you gave.

(Joe999) #27

70% for quake 4 is imo totally correct. quake 4 sucks in both ways: sp AND mp. i tried the sp several times, but stopped at lvl 16 because the game is too boring, 60 euro wasted on the special edition. that made me realize why id didn’t release a demo. the mp is only short term fun. you play it for an hour or so a day for approx 2 weeks and then you have enough of it. there’s no innovation in quake 4. who needs graphics nowadays? it’s gameplay that counts. imo only doom 3 deserved a higher rating because it was “new” that time when it was released. but thinking back, it has no replay-value at all. and then came quake 4 which is too similar to doom 3. nothing new in that game except that you don’t have to search stupid keys anymore with which you can access the next room which has a machine in it, because now the engineers opened the door for you. i don’t see that as “innovation”. i soon switched back to ET again. looks like after all those years of playing ET and hoping that a new and better game comes out, no other developer than SD themselves can take me away from their game :slight_smile:

(Fab) #28

There is a quake 4 demo.

(kamikazee) #29

There is one now, but afaik it was only released after the game’s release.

(Mordenkainen) #30

nm, going too off topic anyway.

(Joe999) #31

there was none at game release, neither for doom 3. the demos came much later.

not really. i’ve always said that gameplay is more important than graphics. but part of the importance of gameplay is balance, especially system- and config-wise.
