Brink weapons

(Blaskeeto) #221

I am not worried about the weapon selection really I just want an option to have your guy hold the gunin the left hand and have it on the left side of the screen. You know not just what you see, but your character is actually holding it that way.

Did a quick search of the forums before-hand and didn’t really see this question. But since we are talking about the guns. Has anyone heard how, if at all, one will denote what guns they start out with (by default) in every match. From what I’ve seen in most vids the match starts and the player runs to the console and picks the weapons they want. Will you have to do this at the start of every match or is there a way (if anyone knows) to “tag” guns in the customization menu as starting weapons. (Just watched “The Basics” video again and noticed on the weapon custom screen that there are circular “impressions” in the upper left of each gun block, so I assume you tag them that way)

On a side-note to go along with the trend of the last few comments, I am excited to see how the semi-autos are gonna hold up, when they will be useful and how well they do against face-to-face firefights. Also, I’m sure its been answered but I assume that EXP is awarded based on damage per bullet and not a flat-rate per bullet. So a semi-auto or a bolt-action will take away more health and award more EXP per contact than, say, an SMG bullet.

I expect so, but haven’t heard a confirmation. I imagine you see people running to the command posts in videos a lot just to show viewers that you can do it mid-game. I know you customize all of your available weapons pre-game, so picking your equipped one at that time would only make sense.

One can only hope, or else I’m gonna be running around with a gatling gun or the fastest SMG available at all times.

I remember reading somewhere that the XP is damaged-based, rather than the COD style of giving you nothing until the person dies.

(Realirony) #225

Yea I remember them saying that as well. I think the reasoning behind it was so that others could not “steal your kill” and thus your EXP. But I mean, K/D is irrelevant in this game, its all about incap and getting EXP for objectives and a little on the side from dmg done to enemy players. I was just wondering if a bolt-action bullet that does, say, 1/6 of ur HP in dmg will award 2X points while a SMG bullet does 1/10 of your health and X dmg (I am being hypothetical, I know my math is flawed and VERY wrong  all you math lovers)

The only reason to actually kill an enemy player is to ensure that they cannot be revived by enemy medics. Or so the kid wont be seeing/communicating your positions and movement to his/her own team while chilling out in Incap mode. I really like the idea of EXP based on dmg caused to the opponent rather than who dropped the enemy. Makes kills kind of a second thought and more about halting their movement to w/e objective your dealing with.

Bolt-Action does more like 3/5.

(tapout) #227

Man even the gunz are as stylish.

(Realirony) #228

yea. told you my math was hypothetical/flawed above :frowning:

But thank you for posting the ball-park amount. Good to know for future reference as to whether I try one out early on in my toon’s travels through the single digit ranks.

(Linsolv) #229

It does like 3/5 to the body of a Heavy, based on the vg24/7 video. Give or take. Maybe 4/7? Certainly more than half. I assume he was unbuffed but his health bar was full.

Fishbus over at the SA forums had this to say:

(when asked about the pre-order guns)
gameplay wise they are reskins as they don’t have different stats compared to their base counterpart (ritchie/caesar revolver and Belgo/Hockler MP).

so the VBR-Belgium is called Belgo and the PPC would be Ritchie

Thanks for the heads up, as well as the names, I’ll put them in now. Only two left to find.

I’ve suspected reskins for a while now, was back and forth for a while, but making pre-order weapons have unique stats didn’t make much sense to me.

(LyndonL) #232

I knew SD wouldn’t screw that up. T’was amazing all the doomsday people saying what a sellout SD was haha.

I think I figured out the Rhett. It is based on a SIG AR. SIG AR RHETT. Say that out loud.

(tokamak) #234

I think it was amazing that it took so long before that rumour was confirmed. For all we know they did in fact have different stats but were revoked later on.

Well done, sounds plausible to me!

(DouglasDanger) #236

I can’t remember my wikia log-in. :frowning:

(DouglasDanger) #237

The little wire thing on the back of the flashlight on the Rhett could be a switch.

You are my hero. Been trying to figure that one out for ages. I’m kinda sad that its a corny pun after all the thought I’ve put into it though. Was hoping it would be something deep. :frowning:

(DouglasDanger) #239

I had Brink on the brain early this morning, and I had sort of a revelation about it I guess. I don’t smoke or anything, but I just linked SIG and Rhett together somehow.

I wonder if there are underbarrel grenade launchers in the game. There was one in those GDC slides, and there are some on the website’s customization section.

(Linsolv) #240

That points to “probably.” I don’t know how they will be handled, though.
