BRINK suggestions forum

Yup.
What about the bookmarks though? Would it be possible to inserted tags/bookmarks into demos based on in game events?
It’s certainly possible, yes.

(xXHugDangerXx) #122

Talking of the demo issue, would it be possible to play a compilation of kills/deaths at the end of a map as something interesting to watch and cover load times?

(SockDog) #123

Awww come on, this is a suggestions thread. I’m hoping the last thing we need to suggest is that the game is fun and finished.

I’d guess not for the same reason why you can’t do it while playing. I’d be interested in hearing what people think about end of map and loading screens though.

Nice sig btw.

I’d like to see a novel released that gives us an in-depth look of the entire story line. The Halo series, regardless of gameplay, totally suckered me in with the story. I’ve played all the games more for the story than the action itself. I’ve read all of the Halo books to date (well part way through The Cole Protocol), and it’s the depth to the Halo universe keeps bringing me back.

Humm a list of a few things :stuck_out_tongue:

 1. fast strafe movement for athletic body type.

 2. heavy armour for large/strong body type.

 3. weapons that are speed restrictive, so a athletic with a heavy weapon will walk slow, but the large/strong already have slow movement so there speed will not be restricted. (this will enable all body types to use any weapons but with repercussions)

 4. wall jumping

 5. heavy/med/light versions of all weapon classes (handguns, shotguns, assault, explosive, sniper). This would enable options like a heavy/light sniper, heavy with a 50cal and slow movement or light with a lower range less power but fast movement.

 6. A weight load out showing how your equipment weight is offset against your speed. This will give all the players in the game different speeds based on there load out and body type adding to the characters individuality.

dunno if it’s been mentioned before, but i want to bring up the importance of a good demo mechanism!

i’m a console gamer when it comes to jump’n’runs, beat’em ups and such, but batman: arkham asylum i’ll need to get for the pc. mostly because of the screenshot feature. i already played 3 times through the game because it looks so f-ing awesome. it’s a real pleasure to look at it. i’ve already made gigabytes of screenshots which i show friends and all. i think that’s a very good ad. brink seems to go into the same category of looking awesome in every aspect: animation-wise, gfx-wise, etc. i think being able to put that awesomeness eg on youtube is a very good ad for the game. which brings me to quake wars: the demo function is a pain to use, besides of that the playback is horrible. i don’t mean the timing creep thing (at least i think it got nothing to do with it because the stuttering is permanently), the playback is unwatchable, needless to say unrecordable with eg fraps. the only way you can output a smooth video is when you render every frame as tga and create a vid from that image sequence. but then there’s the sound problem. you also want sound, so you have to extract that one and mux it all together.

in short: it’s takes a lot of effort to create a custom “ad” for the game, which imo instead should be very easy to use for the noob gamer. please work on that if you got the time

(bahdom) #127

-Linux support
-Some way to avoid the ranked/custom division from ETQW
-Option to set team sizes as long as they’re [3,8]
-Me in the beta
-Proper publicity
-For the game to startup quickly [i remember alot of times where i’d feel like a quick etqw match but it just didnt seem worth waiting for the game to load up and then connect to the server]
-interesting melee mechanics [reinforcing previous post =p ]
-Portable Version =D
-No Hz cap
-Proper bot [count/presence] server filter, hated the etqw patch that wouldnt remove servers with bots using the filter

P.D. Glad to hear about the new renderer and multicore support =]

(shibbyuk) #128

I second these points!

Judging by the stand at gamescom, Bethesda seem to be prepared to spend good money promoting Brink. Is that nice sculpture ending up in the SD offices?

(Exedore) #129

It’d be cool, but I think we’d need to cut a hole in a ceiling somewhere…

(acidrain) #130

Send it to me! I have 10 foot ceilings in my apartment.

(Nail) #131

send it to me, I’ll give it a coat of urethane and put it in my front yard !

(acidrain) #132

Here’s a suggestion for the BRINK website. Please get rid of the JavaScript that resizes my browser. It really turns me off.

(bahdom) #133

Oh! And no GFWL pleeeeeeease!

(TAPETRVE) #134

Technical / balancing issues and other pro gamer stuff aside, I loved the iPhone-style gadget shown in the presentation (turning into a tazer-like torture device of some sort to tap a downed enemy’s brain waves and extract information) and I hope it will be implemented in the game on a more regular base, serving as a multitool for hacking or also showing mission objectives.

(Sabayon) #135

Send to me! My living room should be big enough for it

put it in place of the tree xD

(tokamak) #136

Indeed. Automatic tagging so you can ‘browse’ trough the kills /objective completions would be excellent. You know, like you can skip trough different chapters on a DVD movie.

Huge replay demo support is also clever marketing wise. Lots of cool videos about Brink on Youtube and other sites is free advertising after all. It’s why Blizzard so heavily endorses and supports machinimas made with their game.

(Mordenkainen) #137

I’d like to suggest split-screen COOP (including for PC).

(U.K.Visuals) #138

i would like to see a kind of “achievements” like in Call of Duty 4.
Makes a lot of fun to collect them.

it would be great if you could pick up every weapon, dosen’t matter if its from you dead friend of from a enemy.

(tokamak) #139

The voting system in Quake Wars has always been a bit problematic. I’m not really sure what caused it, maybe the default tresholds where really high and server admins overlooked it, or maybe the voting threshold was a percentage of the players instead of a percentage of the voters (so the non-voters would automatically vote against instead of being ignored).

It’s worth looking into so that majority votes can simply pass, provided that there are votes in this game (I assume there will be things like map restarts and such).

(bahdom) #140

I think this was already talked about but I can´t seem to remember, anyway, I´d like to be able to customize weapons [a la CoD4 but better ofcourse =p]
