Dynamic beard growth system would be awesome, as the character levels up he should develop stubble, more game time, more beard.

Maybe it costs some xp to have a shave? Bullets zipping through the beard could reduce its length?
maybe if you die from a headshot your beard falls off.
Would be like a visual tally as to how good at dodging bullets someone is… or to display campers by their grizzly man fluff.

senethro’s idea !

heavies have access to all weapons, mediums a little less, lights least amount

(signofzeta) #883

I think heavies should have no access to extremely light, ahem, small weapons. I mean, look at those strong men in some movies who crush puny weapons with their bare hands.

(SockDog) #884

The question is more, why? What purpose would a heavy have in using a sub-machine gun instead of a full machine gun? If there was some advantage I could see it but otherwise you’re just creating an opportunity for someone to get pissed off for no reason.

(MILFandCookies) #885

Its bit like why some guys opt to use the lac, while playing aggressor in etqw.

(H0RSE) #886

The reasons heavies have access to the smaller guns is just another “perk” of being a heavy, regardless of if they actually use it, the option is there. Lights have more speed, more agility, and are harder to hit. Heavies are slow but can use more guns. I mean if they are basing it on the fact that you can use a big gun because you’re a big guy…it makes sense. And if they can use the big guns, they can easily use the smaller ones as well. You can’t be fast and agile AND carry a minigun. As much fun as tat would be for some of you, the word ‘balance’ kinda gets in the way. And you ask why would someone use a SMG over say an AR or an LMG? it’s all about personal taste. I like shotguns, my friend hates them. He likes SMG’s, I prefer using an LMG. I prefer high damage and/or accuracy over high ROT…others may not.

I’m just more concerned about people selecting the light weapons on a heavy class when it’s to their detriment. Not all players may be aware of the impact of that decision.

However adequate UI communication could convey this to the player. Perhaps making the Heavy’s weapons more prominent and listing some weapon stats will be enough to make picking a light weapon a clear decision to “Do it the hard way” rather then “Ooooo pweettty gun”.

They have all got pros and cons and if I understood it correctly you have free choice as a heavy. If you want an additional small weapon as a close range finisher why not?

(DarkangelUK) #889

Wouldn’t the lighter weapon give better accuracy? A heavy who can take a good bit of damage and pop headshots all day with a small accurate gun would be a formidable opponent.

I wonder if a heavy player has reduced recoil? I mean they’re big lumps of muscle who can take the kick of a gun much better than a light guy, so that would suggest less spread overall.

(tokamak) #890

I’d say light weapons should have more accuracy while moving, heavy weapons better accuracy while stationary. It kind of works in ETQW like that as well.

(SockDog) #891

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to play ETQW either but man were there tears about how hard it was. I’m just saying if the choice is there it should be considered to emphasise the impact of that choice in the UI.

That’s a very interesting suggestion or did I miss something that’s been confirmed? Different weapon attributes depending on the body type could be very interesting and indeed open up the lighter weapons for the heavy. What could be done for the other body types though? Would the lights and mediums take heavier weapons outside their bracket for perhaps reduced accuracy and a slower reload time?

Oh the Steam UI Beta has reminded me of a long time, silly, want in games. A clock, let me know what the time is without alt+tabbing to the desktop or shouting at the wife.

(and yes I know we’re now one decision away from Shift+Tabbing for it)

(Nail) #893

had a clock in W:ET, was there one in QW ?

(SockDog) #894

Not that I noticed although I’ll be all :o if there was one. Would be nice to have it in the interface somewhere though, I could use my cell I guess but I tend to leave that with my keys so I don’t forget it.

(darthmob) #895

Yeah a clock would be awesome! Sometimes I just gotta know what time of the day and what day of the week it is.

(abnorm) #896

You can get them very cheap and in all shapes and sizes.
