Brink release and reaction – realistically

Or else you’ll use Splash on them?

(Mr. Magikarp) #62

I will Splash the hell out of them.

Yes, (ignores sarcasm) the game should adapt to different system specs, platforms and input devices. Not the other way around. That’s what I mean about entitlement. That’s a basic expectation. If you go below it, your game is substandard. Complain about entitlement all you want, that’s how standards work. Different living standards don’t reflect different levels of happiness. It’s the changes that matter.

(Linsolv) #64

But here’s the thing. Let’s say I make a game. We’ll call it… like… Quake 5. I make it for PC only. Then I put “Press Start” on the loading screen, just for the sake of being a dick. Does that make the rest of the game crap, or are you being dumb for worrying about it?

Also, I heard the reason PC players were pissed about Portal was all the day 1 DLC—that is to say, content Valve had ready, but thought they could make an extra, cheap buck on.

(Mr. Magikarp) #65

When I complain about entitlement, it’s always about game design decisions. The most important thing is for a game to be fun, yeah? So folks complaining about the game lacking ragdolls or one-shot kills or the lack of trick jumps I would file under entitlement.

Folks who complain about unprecedented performances issues (console port, stuff like that) I just file under paranoia.

I just started learning to strafe-jump. If Brink doesn’t have strafe jumps so that I can practice, then it’s not a real game.
