Brink Refund (Germany - Saturn)

(eMwegA) #1

Is there any possibility to get my money back for Brink?! I tried everything including the newest ATI hotfix released a few hours ago and Brink is still UNPLAYABLE. I somehow dont believe that the store (saturn) will refund because of the steam activation etc. This product doesnt work so any advice how to get my 50€ back?! Dont see too much chances though…

(system) #2

Don’t see that happening. You can cancel preorders, but after release… very tough.
If it makes you feel better, I have to get a new engine for my car so…

(eMwegA) #3

so you bought a brand new car and the engine didnt work well from the beginning and you wont get a refund? i can hardly believe that. sry thats a very bad analogy…

(tangoliber) #4

He wasn’t making an analogy.

(eMwegA) #5

if it wasnt than how could the fact, that he has to spend money on his engine make me feel better?!

Sorry for the non english…

Need to be an IT specialist to play the game and a lawyer to get rid of it  great xD

(darthmob) #8

Let it be a lesson. Do not believe the hype and wait for a few days before getting a game. Or import it from zavvi.com or amazon.co.uk and spend only 30€.

Put the game on your shelf, wait for two weeks and then try again. Maybe it helps.

We all buy games we don’t like and don’t live up to their potential

but we just have to get on with it.

(eMwegA) #10

Its not a matter of taste. I want a refund because I cant get brink to run stable at all. Thats a difference… So the hype argument isnt valid here.
BTW i usually get uk imports but i got a “saturn gift card” so i had to buy the more expensive store version.

Check the relevant consumer laws in your country.

For example, here in the UK; I’d expect there’s a reasonable chance of success in getting a refund.

Under the sale of goods act, the product has to be ‘fit for purpose’. If I were having issues, I’d use that. Many years ago, I had to when I purchased Grid by CodeMasters. I got a full and immediate refund (yes, it was the PC version).

Check how your laws protect you then proceed from there. Don’t let people here put you off.

(Bullveyr) #12

I would guess your chances aren’t that good.

Btw, if this is your steam account Brink doesn’t seem to be “UNPLAYABLE” for you.

(Apples) #13

Just another QQ… If you want a refund talk with the shops / steam / Sd / bethesda in private, dont bring your crap here.

Bye

Ouch, you guys are unnecessarily harsh. eMwegA is really only asking for advice.

Bullveyr - If that is the correct Steam id, there’s no evidence as to how long has been spent in front of the monitor to get the game to work for that 13 hours. Or what performance was like, during. Please, let’s not go down the road of semantics around ‘unplayable’.

Apples - Absolutely nothing wrong with them posting here. Rather than try and dictate what someone should and shouldn’t do, how about exercising a little restraint and skipping the thread as opposed to ‘griefing’ it?

eMwegA - Have a look at this link, not sure if there’s anything in there that might help.

I’m harsh because of the history of this guy, he posted a bazzilion whining thread already and all he can do is complain, a refund is somthing regulated by law, not by uneducated gamers, I dont see why it is wrong to ask him to keep it private, to cease polluting the boards and playing the dumb with a spawn of threads like “I dont like Brink”, “I want my money back” , “How can I get refund”, “Brink is unplayable” etc etc when there are already at least 4 of 5 threads open for each of these subjects!. By playing dumb I mean c’mon, if you know how to install steam, install a game and coming to a forum you can have the “idea” of googling about refund and stuffs like that in Germany dont you think? Lazy people annoy me.

Being helpfull is a thing, and I usually try to, but when people dont use the right tools from the start it just gets me a bit mad.

I’m expressing my opinion here also, and I dont care that much if it will hurts his “feeling”, as it hurts my eyes to have to scroll 1000 threads to find an interesting one…

(system) #16

Very thick in the head you are.

(FireWorks) #17

And here comes all the funny lawer vocabulary into play, which I lack i english and Leo didnt really help.
Thing is, that he has a right to get his money back and the seller must pay him the money by law (EU wide). Nothing of kindly asking and hoping for a good day of the seller.

Yawn, source.

Interesting.

Firstly, he’s not even hit 100 posts. Hardly an excessive amount and certainly not a ‘bazilion’ when you factor in multiple replies to the same thread.

You didn’t ask him to keep it private, you told him ‘don’t bring your crap here’. Asking is a lot more polite an action…

Why aren’t you reporting these threads? That would seem the logical thing to do if they are excessive or duplicated. If reported and Splash Damage allow them to remain, they’re clearly not breaking any rules; whether you like their content or not.

To be fair, I’m with you on getting frustrated over similar/duplicate threads but instead of padding them out with vitriol and keeping them at the top; report them or leave them be. Either way, they die out relatively quickly and your eyes will avoid any crisis.
