Brink Q&A
Thank god, no noobtubing :D
There’s still the grenade launcher. As far as I know it does work the proper way* and not like in Call of Duty. There was no noobtubing in Enemy Territory.

 • short distance shot explodes on second impact and long distance on first

(tokamak) #1222

There appears to be a manual as well as an auomatic grenade launcher in the game.

(Spaiker) #1223

Ok, but those will be more difficult to hand then some random RPG I think. You’ll have to aim in a diffrent way instead of a line.

(light_sh4v0r) #1224

most likely. Even in ETQW rockets flew with a rather steep curve.
The grenade launcher in ETQW was in no way overpowered, mostly because you had to give up your ironsights to use one. If it’s anything like that I wouldn’t worry about them being too powerful.

(tokamak) #1225

The small grenade launcher seems to have a rather low rate of fire and the heavy grenade launcher, presumably with a higher rate of fire, can only be used by heavy bodytypes who are much slower and can’t get over objects higher than their waste, so there’s some severe repercussions to having that weapon.

until DLC’s start falling from skies.
or custom-made mods.
note: there is not so much space/hard targets in Brink[4 such weaponry. 2 use].

What do you mean by that?
I don’t think they’ll add rocketlaunchers to the game by DLC that would make an overpowered weapen, since there wasn’t going to be a 1 shot kill weapon, right?
Will there be Prone?

(LyndonL) #1228

No prone.

He means no hard targets etc as in there are no vehicles like in ETQW so no need for rocket powered explosive weaponry.

There wasn’t in ET either, and if you count the trucks and tanks you have to count the robot thingy in Brink also then.

(Spaiker) #1230

If you add it to the game, there is most possibly a bunch of players that will whore it for kills.

(.Chris.) #1231

Seeing as it’s not in the game at release adding it afterwards in DLC wouldn’t be good idea seeing as the game wasn’t originally designed for it and could lead to unforeseen problems, same with any high powered weapon really.

I wouldn’t have minded a rocket launcher like the panzer in Wolf 2009, wasn’t over powered and was hard to get multikills with due to low damage and small splash damage radius, was real challenge to use effectively.

you “thinking”!=real world.
point is strategy matter, while expectations is not[so much].
“overpowered” ? there is no “overpowered” weaponry in games and in real-life.
ANY things are have purpose and goals 2 do, up to WMD.
why do you think, RL with not-HE-frag rounds should/can be “one shot kill” against soft rargets/infantry ?
and no, its NOT “right”. among range, there are many advantages of RL, including variety of rounds. so you can put smokescreen, EMP, HE-Frag, HEAT, FAE, Incendary, counter-mobility -rounds in actions.

I’d like to know if Brink on PC is going to have a developer console and competitive support, specifically spectating, demo recording and possibly broadcasting.

(tokamak) #1234

Yes it most likely will.

(Spaiker) #1235

Nice to know, can you admin a server with that console?

(Nail) #1236

dedicated servers have their own interface

(light_sh4v0r) #1237

You can probably do some basic rcon stuff from the ingame console, but more complicated things like adding custom maps etc will require you to have access to the server directly. If you host your own that’s easy, if you rented your server you’ll probably get access to a webpage where you can do these.

ETQW had a UI for most of the rcon commands anyway if you logged in as server admin ingame, so I don’t think you’ll be using the console a lot for admining your server.

(madness) #1238

Holy thread resurrection!
But did it work out then ? :stuck_out_tongue:

Fast guys can get there quicker, but they’ve got a lot less power to use for abilities. So that’s an extra wrinkle. The other thing, which i can’t talk about, is a very huge and important feature. About all I can say on it right now is this: surfing. When you guys find out more in the coming months, I think you’ll be quite surprised how it can add a new tactical level to different body types and how they get around

and what is/was it ?

btw. where’s Rahdo ?

(tokamak) #1239

Rahdo is still browsing the forums. He’s just not commenting.

(Ragoo) #1240

Do you know why he isn’t commenting? I’d imagine it’s very hard to keep yourself from saying something when many people post wrong bull**** about the game you develop lol
