Brink Q&A

It wasn’t.

Here’s the post that started the discussion.

First of all, it’s 8vs8, say you balanced the classes out, it would lead to having two soldiers, and therefore two charges in play, not three or four like in QW. That already diminishes the idea behind multiple charges and makes the whole objection less relevant.

In the end having one fixed spot makes everything far more clear. Nobody has to look anywhere and it puts the focus back on fighting over the objective instead of searching for it.

Anthony obviously is not using the term “trick plant” in the correct context.

So your saying having a single spot to plant justifies depth because they can’t trick plant?

Your against trick planting, ok.

Your don’t mind multi-planting, ok.

So your on the same page as those of us who think multi-planting and free-planting is ok, but are more skeptical of trick plants.

So in conclusion you don’t mind multi-plants or free-plants, but you do mind, but it’s not going to matter much anyways. Somehow being able to plant on the OBJECTIVE, but more than once and freely on a fixed surface, takes away from the OBJECTIVE. And being able to STRATEGICALLY plant a charge on a specific side of an objective that might allow for more coverage (not trick plants), takes away from the STRATEGIC elements of the game? I might just be as confused as you are on this one…

(tokamak) #984

I have a problem with trickplanting, I don’t have a problem with free plants and multi plants, multi plants will be less relevant in Brink anyway, all in all I think the fixed plant is better for it means less effort on trivial matters, means more effort on the actual game.

How is that confusing?

It appeared that you were for and against it multiple times, and kept using trick planting and free/multi-planting like they were the same thing. I am still not sure what you mean by effort on trivial matters, but it seems like your bent on using the unintentional faults of a system in order to condemn the whole thing. If you agreed with what people were saying about how the concept was not a bad idea in QW, then it might have just been easier to say so .

(Cankor) #986

Is it possible the “plant” is more of an animation, similar to COD4, and you can do it from any side? Could be the same with diffuse maybe. Can’t remember what the demo vid showed, but it could still be an animation even if it looked like a plant.

OT

Can we match different body weights with different classes? e.g., have a “heavy” operative or medic, or a slim and fast soldier, etc. etc.

yes, they said your body type doesn’t limit what class you can play, it limits what weapons you can carry, and how much damage you can take, and how fast you can move. In other words, it makes sense.

(3Suns) #989

Awesome opposum! Thanks, Cankor!

(signofzeta) #990

I have seen somewhere that the heavy class is an unlockable class, and you only start with thin and medium builds at first. Don’t know if this is officially true or not.

(MILFandCookies) #991

The heavy bodytype is unlockable.
You have access to all classes.

(H0RSE) #992

I didn’t know it was unlockable. I thought they were all available from the start. I hope it is fairly easy to unlock (easy as in time consuming, not actual skill)

(Nail) #993

afaik, all body types and classes are available from the start

(MILFandCookies) #994

Yep I thought that too, until I saw this really cool interview

(tokamak) #995

You’ve got to be kidding me. At what point does Radho say that?

(MILFandCookies) #996

Just before he discusses the link between autism and being a forum hero.

(tokamak) #997

In other words, you have no idea and resort to uncalled for comments.

(Senyin) #998

At 19:29 Bongoboy mentioned it.
Around 18:08 it’s also mentioned that everyone starts out as a medium type,
which implies the skinny type is an unlock too.

At 15:25 the whole Character Customization segment starts.

(tokamak) #999

Thanks!

What an incredibly weird decision, how does that work with selecting your body type at the start of the game, or is the idea of it being a permanent choice completely out of the window now?

(.Chris.) #1000

nearly spat out my dinner!
