BRINK: Pre-Order bonuses as a DLC pack for aditional price

(TNT4THEBRAIN) #1

Unfortunately, i, like many others, came to find out about this game a little too late. There are a lot of cool pre-order bonuses as well in skins, appearance and weapons for this game. It would be great if they become available for purchase. I’ve seen this been done before, with Worms Reloaded for example where the pre-order bonuses became available to all who purchased later on, for an additional price.
Hope this dream ever comes true.

Nope. Too late. Pre- means BEFORe its out in store. Sorry. Keep your mittens off my Doom Bandana.
What would be better is if they charged for alternative versions of the pre-order packs. Like a Hulk Hogan style Bandana. Mo money that way. Now we are talking.

There was another thread discussing this not so long ago. The community seems a bit divided on the topic: mostly the people who have them saying “It was a bonus for pre-ordering. Giving it away now negates the bonus.” and the people without it (who want it) claiming that the months of having it are bonus enough and they need to release it now.

Iirc (and you’d need to double check me on this) Splash Damage said they wouldn’t release pre-order bonuses after the fact.

The only thing in the bonuses that aren’t just a cosmetic reskin / clothing is the Green Eye sight with the spec ops pack.

If you’re in the UK you can try looking at GAME.co.uk. Last I heard they were still selling their “special edition” which had te spec ops and the doom packs in them.

EDIT: Here’s that other thread btw. You may want to skim that:

Rockstar released pre order dlc for red dead, did you see them complaining? There’s absolutely no reason non preorders should not have access to these items as well.

(ComradeWarden) #6

already have the doom dlc, but i would love to get my hands on the others

Not just that and I know I have said it before and am going to now say it again. They are reskins or diff models with same stats as other guns but they are still another gun option that you can customize any way you want, and seeing as some people have gone out of their way to purchase all the pre order DLC now have 4 more guns to customize which means more in game choices then others. Sorry but I dont find it fair to have more in game choices then others, thought this game was all about an even playing ground… The outfits/tatoos should be pre order only not the weapons or weapon attachments, although the green eye only matters, alt silencers are just “skins” and give no advantage.

I’m sick of this topic now. Releasing pre-order items later is a crappy thing to do when we’re talking about cosmetic items

(wolfnemesis75) #9

Wait! This happened to me too! Can I have my Spec Ops, er and Psycho Pack now? And just throw in the Fall Out pack too. Might as well.

(thesuzukimethod) #10

guys, this will easily be the 10th thread on this topic, and those threads were already on :expressionless:|

SD certainly is aware of what people want (both sides), and I doubt an 11th or 111th thread arguing back and forth about it will change their perspective.

(Hot-Wire) #11

They should just release and charge for it.

That way those who don’t have it has the option of grabbing it.

Those who already have it through preorders, got it for free.

Oh and Splash makes some money.

It’s a win for everyone in a sense.

(zenstar) #12

There are reasons both for and against.

Let’s ignore the whole green eye scope & extra weapons arguements for a moment.

On one hand it devalues the “bonus” part of pre-order bonus because you no longer have a unique thing that shows you have been with the game from the start. I’m sure some people were swayed into pre-ordering the game simply so they could have the unique looking outfit.

On the other hand it’d probably make a lot of people happy to be able to get the bonuses and (if they sold them) it could make SD more money to fund further game development without costing them anything.

Problem is that some people might not preorder next time because they’ll be able to pick up the bonus later anyway.

But then again what if you couldn’t afford it at the time / didn’t hear about it in time? Is it fair to deny you in that situation?

Personally I think that if you get a preorder bonus then it should remain a preorder bonus. Otherwise it’s not a preorder bonus it’s just some stuff that everyone will have in a month or two. Ofc I also think that preorder bonuses should be completely cosmetic. In this regard maybe they should release the guns and green-eye scope.

TBH though: the greeneye scope is not really an advantage. It may give you peripheral vision but it covers up way too much around the target. I personally don’t use it and I doubt anyone else does other than to show off that they have it (while not using iron sights with it).
And having the ability to have 2 loadouts for a single gun so you can switch between them during play is not much of an advantage either. I doubt you’d find anyone who actually does that and gains an advantage by doing so.

I wouldn’t be too fussed if they released the pre-order stuff, but I’d prefer that they didn’t. If they do release it as a purchasble DLC then all pre-order people should get all of them for free. Remember: most preorder people only got 1 of the preorders, 2 if they were lucky.

Like I said earlier if they charged for it, the incentive to pick up the bonus at preorder is to get it for free. Remember preordering doesn’t cost you anything extra. It just adds to the final cost to you.

So people won’t just simply say, I’ll wait til later and pick it up… because they will have to PAY for it.

(MrFoxer) #14

People preorder because they want the game, the extra things are just a bonus.

Yes, I’ve been saying this myself in the other threads too.

I have the Doom pack + Spec Ops. I don’t personally really need/want anything from Psycho, but I like the Green Eye scope a lot (fitted to the Barnett) and don’t see why others shouldn’t now be allowed to buy it + the SE/Pre-Order guys get the extra items they’re missing for free.

Though I don’t have a burning desire for anything in the Psycho/Fallout packs it’d be nice to have a 100% content complete game (+ I quite like the Fallout T ;)).

(SakuyaFM) #16

Okay, let’s see.

BioWare released some of their pre-order bonus content for Mass Effect 2 as DLC. It’s had a lot of praise for that, and lots of sales.

I’d say do it.

(cptincognito) #17

Unless there’s some contractual reason they can’t, I simply cannot see why they wouldn’t release them as 3-5$ DLC at this point. Here’s an idea- take the money from the sales and pay someone to package up the SDK. People that don’t want the reskins but would support an SDK have a reason/means to do so.

(ComradeWarden) #18

this for sure, the doom pack was just icing on the cake

(BROTOX) #19
Yes, I’ve been saying this myself in the other threads too.
As have I, preorder folks got it for free- there’s your bonus. Now stop being selfish elitists and give SD the chance to make a little money in the meantime.

And they should make the POC available SOON. Interest in Brink is on the rise and SD need to strike while the iron is hot to keep the momentum going!
