Brink peaked over 10k today

That’s pretty nice, I hope they stick around, more players means better paid DLC. Interesting to see how it pans out next week.

(wolfnemesis75) #2

Awesome. That’s great.

(sanDIOkan) #3

untill the game is free
lets see if tomorrow the game is between first 100 games

(Feelgood) #4

WTF? You play on the PC and think that “better paid DLC” is something to look forward to? Ummm how bout we release FREE DLC, as it should be, as well as the proper tools that the community can use, to fix all the issues that SD seem incapable of fixing.

(Darksider) #5

More people bought the game apparently, It’s #6 on Steam Top sellers list.

(Seiniyta) #6

It’s been high in the top seller’s list since the game became F2P

Now I hope enough people purchased it so for a more healthy varied experience where I can have 3K more xp then the second guy overall :stuck_out_tongue:

[QUOTE=sanDIOkan;366898]untill the game is free

Its been there every single day since release.

(slengteng) #8

It’s also included in the Quakecon pack which is the top seller at the moment, so there are definitely a lot of new owners right now.

(Anneliese Stone) #9

the game is ok’ish

(Kurushi) #10

Be fair. At their current rate SD have done a great job. I trust them more than the community tbh

(FireWorks) #11

To be fair, they dont seem to have the resources to add things that are standard in every PC shooter I played in the last 10 year. Including all their previous work.

They did a good job with the game but there are things that are very easily solved and yet didnt happen. They are still hiring UI programmers for a reason.

I got some search pics for you:
This is an easier one:

Heres a harder one:

Found both guys behind the obstructing symbols that cant have their Alpha value changed? Even better when your white crosshair blends with the white medic symbols and you cant tell where the enemy is exactly nor where your gun is pointing. But for these situations is the spread right?

(burawura) #12

I’ve had some awesome games the last few days. Pubbing has been quite fun with familiar names and new ones too! Thanks all and ggs

(Smokeskin) #13

I’m sure you feel entitled to a great many things, but in the real world, you mostly need an economic incentive for people to get them to work. A franchise with a customer base willing to pay for stuff gets stuff developed.

(FireWorks) #14

You quote it in your sig, you need many mislead people that think they should pay for it while they forget that they already paid for a product, that should have been complete in the first place.

If the paid DLC contains new maps and such then it’s just going to split an already small player base, I could see it been the final nail in the coffin for me if it was to be the case.

I’d rather they just fixed the game instead of adding more content.

(Smokeskin) #16

Actually, I now have more maps, more abilities, more attachments and more outfits than what I paid for.

And whether you think business is fair or not, publishers aren’t going to sink money into producing DLC if they don’t think it’ll generate extra revenue.

(Patriotqube) #17

The 1 weekend where i cant play because of rl issues, they decided to make a free weekend :frowning:

But on the other hand, despite i wasnt able to enjoy it, i can hear from my teammembers that it has been extremely fun whole weekend, lots of new names and many seemed to like the game according to chat on the servers.

Hell our US Server was packed with ppl almost 24h a day this weekend. i dunno what happend, but suddenly it seemed that the new ppl also had the new maps, and was able to play them, very nice. was frustrating in the beginning when seeing a full server be emptied when new maps was loaded.

Thanks SD this was a great weekend, keep them comming

To be honest though, the original game didn’t have that much content to begin with and the original maps were average at best, and terrible in some cases.

I don’t know why people defend publishers so much in regards to paid DLC, it’s a nasty practice milking the consumer for all their worth, sadly those consumers happily play along because they think they are getting a good deal when in most cases they are paying for content which one could argue should have been in the game on release. You do get cases were the added content is justified and fairly priced but they are very far and few between.

I certainly wouldn’t have bought Agents of Change if it wasn’t free.

(jazevec) #19

As opposed to an SDK and mod tools. Yeah, right.

Publishers are not entitled to get paid for a mediocre game.

If people want something it has a worth (monetarily speaking). How much people want it determines what that worth is. Bad games have a value, it’s just lower than good games. The trick is finding out what you value the game at and seeing if the price of that game is equal to, or lower than your value.

Of course this is easier said than done (I don’t condone piracy but that’s a seperate argument) especially without a demo. Often you need to base your opinion on previews, reviews, word of mouth and quick hands-on sessions (if you’re lucky to get one).

If a company can do something for profit it probably will. The only time things get released for free nowadays is when the people releasing it are doing it for good will which also has a value. Brand loyalty is worth big money. Sure, some indie devs may release something or other for free, but the reality is that they’re doing it to spread knowledge of the game via word of mouth.

The market has matured and changed. The indie crowd may be holding onto some of the older values, but even they are slowly turning towards a different tactic of console / phone quick hit games with high download rates.

Paid for DLC is the way things are done nowadays. If you don’t think it’s worth the price then don’t pay for it. By purchasing DLC you’re only perpetuating the cycle as you’re telling the publishers that you’re willing to pay. if you value DLC however, then companies will always try to raise the price to meet your value. It’s teh only sensible thing to do in a situation where your business exists to make money (which is what most businesses exist for).
