Brink PC Update and New Dedicated Server Released

(.Chris.) #61

The thread title says “PC update” not “PC 5gb overhaul patch”. whining about the size of the update is really clutching at straws, would you rather they held back on the fixes they implemented in this update until they fixed other stuff thus having to wait longer or something?

Give me small frequent updates over large infrequent updates any day of week.

(Overgear) #62

I’m thankful that we have had 2 patches in 2.5 weeks addressing some issues however I don’t want the same thing to happen toBrink as happened to Monday Night Combat.
A patch every 3/4 weeks but no new maps for 4 months (Even then it was 1 sucky map) and modtools said to be released in January which never came. The game eventually died to under 100 players.

(Stun) #63

Certain areas on certain maps are always going to be more testing than others, anyone who is expecting 150 fps consistently on every part of the map is deluding themselves.

(sirius89) #64

Not 150.150 FPS is not needed anyway it will just toast your gfx card.

But playable 40-50’ish FPS without stuttering should be no problem. :frowning:
8vs8,mediocre graphics. Were not talking about Arma 2 huge 500vs500 battles with bots where you NEED a Quad/i5/i7 to play that game without bad FPS.

I’ll just trust SD now that they worked hard on things, now it’s up to AMD.Hope they can deliver.

(Ca9ine) #65

Does the update include fixing server bots being invisible?

(Apples) #66

Erm PC allways have been their fanbase  If only they made a PC game :stuck_out_tongue:

(light_sh4v0r) #67

Oh, I see you found my suggestion of using enter to close an empty textchat window. Good!
I recall a number of other issues that were in the same list though

(killazz112) #68

Update didn’t do ****… I’m done with this

(Cyan) #69

The game still runs like absolute dog turd

My hope is gone.

(sirius89) #70

Last instance is now 11.6 i think.

MAYBE SD made their job good and it’s up to AMD and Nvidia.Who knows.time will tell.If this game would only run on DirectX and not Open"GoodLuck". sadface

Maybe there will be a BETA 11.6 driver but ATI sayed they have a better look on that so BETA drivers dont get on the internet. But as we know, like everything gets leaked nowadays. ^^

Well, I’ve a sub-par rig (E6400 + GeForce 8800GT, 3G of ultra ****ty RAM), I’m using the “ultra low” settings seen somewhere here (ie, game is horrible)
I max at 30 FPS in match :frowning: At least, it’s now constistent and I don’t have drop-off anymore

I was having ArmA2-like performances (thing which is not impacting at all in A2, but handicapping here  ), now it’s getting better. Improving step by step. Let’s just hope it’s fast enough improvement for keeping the playerbase …

I’am really concerned about that.

the new AMD driver will come in June, which is still 7 days away and i doubt AMD will release the driver on 1 of June. :frowning:
This fix is needed NOW and not in 7 days when half of the playersbase we got left is gone too. -.-

Many players move on from this game every day and i can’t blame them for that.

Going to stem some weights now to get rid of my anger about Brink or should i say Bethesda.

Sound is still dying in MP games - and when that happens, people also seem to go invisible. Had an online campaign game earlier - once the sound had disappeared, I couldn’t see 2 of my team-mates and only one of the opponents were visible.

I think not :frowning:

(Kinjal) #74

Sec Tower

pre-patch 30 fps

post-patch 30 fps

Were you expecting SD to buy you a new computer?

(Smokeskin) #76

Sound seems fixed for me

im not exactly whing about the size of the update, but to what it does to me performance wise. and thats nothing.

where is the performance increase? i dont see it. “especially” when ambient occlusion is activated. yea, remove “especially” and put an “if” there. that might be even true. anyways, i dont even see a difference with ao enabled or not. my frames drop, ok, thats the difference.

in conclusion: my gaming experience is the same. i still have those ugly dropdowns that destroy the fun of the game.

(Kinjal) #78

i already have new pc, hd 5850 toxic

5/23 Patch - Thanks for the patch !

The Good
movement appears much smoother
less sluggishness (lag) on server
graphics seem to be sharper (Nvidia)
sound on refuel is audible with no fade outs ( LAN dedicated and MP dedicated servers )

The Bad
AO still halves framerates {specs in signature below) but its livable

The Ugly
General rule of thumb for fps is that “stuff” in the midline and middle of the screen is “bad”.
This includes icons, chat text, mission objective text, hud positions

  • After ready up there is an additional black box center screen with a countdown timer .
    Is this a glitch?
    http://www.sunlitgames.net/images/dodforum/brink_centerscore.jpg

  • Duplicate mission objective statements, one smaller and faded Above the other.
    http://www.sunlitgames.net/images/dodforum/brink_doublemission.jpg

  • Corrupted fonts persist in game over turrets, in the Medic Revive hud, Weapon selection screen and Options screens

  • The changelog indicates that chat font size has been increased :frowning:
Are there client cvars that can be used to customize chat font size?
Are there client cvars that can be used to customize overhead icon size or alert icon sizes?

(Brink Lags) #80

This does not bode well for the console patch. If the console patch doesn’t fix the lag, I’m giving up on this one. Robbed.
