Brink PC Feedback

(Nexusdog) #301
Yes too many n00bs came in here and diluted the quality feedback with whining and ranting. shame.

also, yes, a lot of “issues” dealt with, now just for patching gameplay balance! :D
I’m not sure that kind of language would lend any weight to an opposed view, it doesn’t inspire one with confidence and I’m not sure SD would take anyone using it seriously.

I’m more curious as to why this thread was unstickied - perhaps another mysterious decision taken of what men aren’t won’t to know.

A little feedback goes a long way…

(DrpPlates) #302

unsticky-ed, really a shock to anyone after the latest patch(s), PC is nothing more then the abandoned step child of the gaming world… if it had sold more copies than console, or even came close to console sales, different story… maybe…

nope they want this thread to fade away… heaven forbid “your favorite Map” poll- shall fade away…

(tokamak) #303

To be honest, there was a crapload of stickied threads clogging up the forum. There still are. Most of them can be taken down for all I care. Brink won’t make the news a lot these days and nobody needs to ‘stay up to date’ with brink either.
@tokamak : Pretty sure I’ve seen it demonstrated in a trailer once upon a time …

Either way, it’s one of Brink’s “features” that I don’t doubt they put a lot of hard work into, too much to just bin it even though the concept was always a bad idea from a PC perspective.
SMART perhaps, but the abilities definitely not.

As for the rest, yeah I’m sure they worked hard on it. And I hope it’s not an emotional investment that keeps them from doing what’s best for the PC.

(howie) #304

I don’t think we’ll see the end of the F key. It’s there for accessibility - to not discourage people who’re new to class/objective based play - unfortunately it’s doing just the opposite for the fans who’ve been playing this type of game on the PC for years and who’re used to having more control.

(AnthonyDa) #305

How the fu(k the “what’s your favourite map?” thread is more important than this?

SD is truly putting in a finger inside its old player fanbase;

(Ashog) #306

It’s unstickied not because of the bad behaviour in the thread or other crap (bad posts can be edited anytime). It’s unstickied because SD gave up on fixing the PC version, as simple as that. They don’t care anymore about our feedback. That’s the obvious message to me, at least.

(.Chris.) #307

Nice inside information there Ashog.

People have been posting new threads for all sorts of feedback regardless of this existing thread been stickied, there really isn’t a point of it been here if no one is using it properly.

(Ashog) #308

I and some other guys used it properly and it’s enough for me. Unstickying just means that SD won’t look at it anymore.

(light_sh4v0r) #309

It certainly doesn’t bode very well :frowning:

(Seiniyta) #310

I remember something simular happening wiht Quake Wars were they unstickied some of the feedback threads and the whole forum went ape****. They still released some patches after that

shrug

 1. DEMOS

 2. TEXT CHAT IN BETWEEN ROUNDS

 3. OPTION TO REMOVE ALL CINAMATICS/VIDEOS/VICTORY-LOSE SCREENS

 4. CONTINUE WORKING ON TRYING TO FIX VID CARD PERFORMANCE (I,E ATI)

AND/OR UNLOCK CVARS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE (PICMIP, ETC).

Fix these and ill be a very happy camper  !

(jRAD) #312

We do read threads, even if they’re not stickied.

i love ET, i enjoyed quake wars, i still have to get me to play brink.

my main issues with brink are the following:

 • the sound. it hurts. physically! mostly the hard volume changes. it makes the game unenjoyable. whoever decided to force volume ups/downs upon gamers on a permanent, unconfigurable basis, doesn’t know how to make user interaction.

 • brink was supposed to “bring color back”. i don’t see it. i see blurry stuff. and darkness. there are too many dark levels

 • the maps look all the same. i haven’t played a single map as a whole, only tried them. i don’t see any difference. i don’t even want to dig into the game. i miss the divesity of oasis / gold rush / radar / fuel dump. in brink all maps look the same. if you can’t alternate levels, then “the ark” was a very bad choice of playfield

 • demo recording doesn’t work. big minus.

 • movement of players in the game looks choppy. good graphics are a given for games these days. the “next gen” for me is animation.

 • screenshots look absolutely gorgeous. but when you play the game, it doesn’t look gorgeous. i have no idea why that is, but it is.

 • explosions and smoke are so 2d-ish. i hoped for a 2011 game it would look more voluminous, like it’s actually there.

oh, and please, please, please get rid of the id tech 4 engine. your game still microstutters  id tech 4 is the worst engine i’ve ever played games with.

what i like about brink? i have no idea, since i have to get me to play the game in the first place :frowning:

what i’d like to see: a level editor, one that’s actually easily usable. parkour levels. challenge levels.

or maybe i’m just too old for this kind of game.

Succinct and yet strangely empty of any real meaning. Have you considered a career in politics?

Come on chaps, you could have added that you ‘take our concerns onboard’ or something to balance that statement.

I’m off to listen to News Quiz before the UK ends up banning Sandi Toksvig…

LOL
I guess whatever SD writes, they’re going to get trashed
Funny, I was thinking the ArmA / Bohemia Interactive community was acting whiny and spoiled! Looks like it’s not a BI exclusive! (Though, you have not reach the level we have down there, tbh. But it’s getting in good shape  )

(Kurnuttaja) #316

Agree with all these points. Smoke maybe looks bad but still lags like hell.

The government and media writes things too.
Are you telling they shouldnt be trashed for ignoring the people as well?

Im glad that Sd is responding but come on seriously.

This thread should have remained a sticky.

I dont have such an issue with this but funnily enough had someone complain to me that the volume in brink sucks.

(Angry Machine) #318

I quit this game, bored and frustrated, this is the first time I feel like that playing a FPS !

Hope the community will stay alive anyway, what a waste…

(I won’t expose why exactly I quit, just read all the complain on this board)

(Nexusdog) #319

I was just thinking. Then I had to lie down. But anyway, I wonder if there is a way of having characters we’ve created and having them play as bots. If that’s already implemented all well and good though I’ve not noticed it yet.

Just seems like a small thing which would bring extra enjoyment and a way of seeing our characters in different roles.

(tokamak) #320

What does that add to pc gaming?
