Brink PC Feedback

Then you can just not take it.

^

that is completely besides the point. its there to be used, not to be ignored because its not been statted properly.

im not moaning or arguing about it, its just a no brainer that the highest ranked defensive ability, should, at least be better than the first 2 put together, in terms of health at least.

(tokamak) #283

The first two put together? Don’t forget that it’s an active ability. That would be completely overpowered compared to other abilities of the same rank.

(legend123) #284

Give us access to cvars so we can raise are fps and so its more stable.

(light_sh4v0r) #285

The game still doesn’t run stable enough for me, but the recent patch did get a lot of other things right, that’s always good

  1. At chokepoints, the high amount of grenades turns the zone into a perpetual knock-down area.

If I try to get closer, I’m not only getting damage from the grenades (normal), I’m also being stripped off any ability to shoot back since I’m being pushed around by the various explosions.

. . .

  1. Snipers-turtling is too effective : 3 to 4 Engies with Snipers (131% dmg) can easily hold an objective without much effort, one-shot-killing the Lights (and many Medium) while taking down the rest to a below-70-HP line.

. . .

  1. Regarding lvl 5 sentries, “one grenade and broken turret, thats not very fair [considering rank 5/lvl 20)]”…

[ul][li]It eats a grenade out of the 2-3 good enemies who know how to spot and destroy Sentries (= 1 Sentry get easily destroyed, while 2 or 3 Sentries are a real pain)[/li][li]With 2-3 Sentries, it needs 2-3 perfectly threw grenades for the push[/li][li]If not destroyed/disabled (grenade don’t always land where we want) rapidly, it can be push-killer[/li][li]At long range, auto-rifles/smg don’t do much damages on it[/li][li]It’s an additional target that the enemy has to take care of, being on the other side of the room (or not-that-far not-that-close away from it) can greatly confuse the enemy if you keep them in the Sentry sight long enough.[/li][li]The Sentry can be used as an emergency shield[/li][li]Operatives can control them[/li][li]It cost only 1 supply pip (= it costs 1 perfectly threw grenade (=1 pip) + 30 bullets + weapon reload delay for the enemies)[/li][li]Can be placed very rapidly, while being behind cover, without the enemy seeing the Sentry being built (can be a nice little surprise, especially if the enemy is out of available grenade)[/li][li] If placed slightly behind the frontline, it can fool the enemies into spamming their grenades before it, then they’ll have to wait for another grenade or waste a lot of their clip and ammo on it before moving on.[/li][li]Can be used like a remote-radar on specific path/area : if destroyed or taking damage, enemy is there[/li][li]Sentries can see through bushes and visual-only obstacles[/li][/ul]… I don’t think it’s (that much) underpowered or useless, you just need to use it wisely and don’t rely on it to make kills, it’s a tool helping you to make kills with your weapon.

Basically, it’s a grenade trap.

It’s forcing the enemies to throw a perfect grenade while they’re trying to shoot you at the same time.

. . .

  1. MG Nest :
A bit underpowered, it’s pretty useless if there’s a Sniper or a good shooter in front of you.

It’s a little bit useful when assisting an entire group of teamates, it lets you provide a continuous stress on the enemies.

=> (imo) Useful only when you’re not looking for kills (like when the enemy can slide behind cover/get revived very easily), just for an infinite-ammo weak MG to keep them running for cover.

Sniper rifle feedback

When shooting and unscoping there is no animation or sound to tell you when you can shoot again. Since I unscope after every bullet this is annoying.

After shooting the last bullet in your magazine you stay scoped for a while even if you unscope, and you can not change weapon in this period.

Right now I find sniping with the Barret annoying and frustrating, please fix these issues so I can play sniper in this game.

to be honest sniping goes against this game. sniping should be hard. you want easy kills like bc2 etc?

i would be happy if the most powerful rifle was the rokstedi! getting sick of OHKs in this game, there wasnt supposed to be any - maybe only light. i only play medium!

(light_sh4v0r) #289

Richie > any other sniperrifle imo, high ROF high accuracy quick draw quick reload what more do you want?

(brbrbr) #290

“Raise FPS” contradict with “Stable”.
both client-side and server-side issues/exploits/cheats/bugs at horrifying scale resurface then.
thats WHY both in Brink, Rage, Prey&i majority of rest online games[both FPS, TPS, RTS]fps cap/sync is enforced.

(Cep) #291

I actually agree with what TheMattylongden said about the turrets they DO need to be improved between levels, its all good saying its comparable to other level 5 abilities but you have to spend 3 tokens to get the heavy turret, not 1 and it gets taken down in the same time as the light and medium turret so wheres the benefit?

I would prefer to see the health improved per level since your spending a token per turret. Additionally it would be really good if they increased the speed/detection rate of a turret they are just far too easy to defeat head on with a rapid pistol.

What are you talking about? I mention obvious flaws in the game mechanics which NEEDS to be fixed. Stuff that does not work as intended. Then you start rambling about OHKs and easy kills which has nothing to do with the feedback I gave.

If they have sniper rifles in the game they should work regardless of how powerful or easy they are to use, currently they dont work. So either remove them completely or fix them!

Congratulations sir! You just ignored the points and made a bull**** assumption of what you thought was written!

You want bugs in your game? Well guess what! 99.99% of the community doesn’t! Guess you’re pretty alone at your tiny block of dirt, make sure to make use of the tiny materials you can gather and use them sparingly!

(Nexusdog) #294

Unstickied due to bad behaviour/issues dealt with in the latest patch/no longer relevant???

(dazman76) #295

Beat me to it - I was wondering the same thing  Mostly because I’d absolutely love to see the “one button for all” setup changed, if nothing else. We do seem to be off the rails a bit, at least compared to the earlier pages of the thread.

crosses fingers and hopes for an awesome upcoming patch

#296

Yes too many n00bs came in here and diluted the quality feedback with whining and ranting. shame.

also, yes, a lot of “issues” dealt with, now just for patching gameplay balance!

(Kendle) #297

I don’t think the PC issues have all been dealt with … specifically the “one button does all” problem.

However, I can’t see SD ever fixing this.

It’s one of Brink’s USPs (Unique Selling Points) and in the last patch rather than simply allow each function to be bound to a separate key they tried instead to improve the logic so that the current implementation works.

I suspect in future patches they’ll try even harder to improve the logic, better that (from their point of view) than say “heh, we spent gazillions of man-hours programming this feature, but after release our player base told us it didn’t work so we binned it”.

They’re pretty much duty bound by their original design decisions and marketing to make “one button does all work”, which IMO it never, ever, will, because it was a bad design decision (for PC) in the first place.

(tokamak) #298

Nonsense, they never sold it on that button.

I think you’re probably right. IIRC they said back in the lolgrenade megathread that the system they’d set up didn’t allow splitting functions up easily, and that it was too late to change it (but it works awesome on PC, so don’t worry!). If you assume that that was true, it’s probably even less likely to happen now.

I think the best way out of this is for SD to get that SDK out ASAP, and help whoever is willing to put the effort into creating a ‘Brink: PC edition’ mod*.

P.S: *Can whoever makes that mod name it “Brink != ETQW”? You’d make me a very happy bunny.

(Kendle) #300

@tokamak : Pretty sure I’ve seen it demonstrated in a trailer once upon a time …

Either way, it’s one of Brink’s “features” that I don’t doubt they put a lot of hard work into, too much to just bin it even though the concept was always a bad idea from a PC perspective.
