Brink Leveling/Campaign

(R.I.P #21) #1

Hey guys, im new here obviously but have a few questions about the game. Ive been doing a little research and havn’t neccesarily found an exact answer…
So my question is aproximately how long will it take to reach level 20? And how long will it take to beat the campaign? The reason why im asking is because i find myself to grow very bored of games i can pick up and play it through in a few hours and then have nothing really to do. But just 2 things i was thinking about

I have a bonus question that probably nobody knows …

Will there be DLC that will increase the level cap and/or prolong the campaign?

Thanks!

Right now there is no estimate as to how long it will to reach level 20. Here’s some information so you can make your own assumption.

You need to reach level 5 to create Heavy characters and level 7 to create light characters.
You can de-level once and regain all your ability points.
You can have 10 characters.

So I am guessing it might be less than how long it takes to reach highest rank in Call of Duty. Maybe around 7 hours for an average player.

As to how long it takes to beat the campaign, I am guessing for both sides it will probably take less than 4 hours. But the thing about this game is that your experience varies a lot based on what body type, class, and abilties you pick. There is also challange modes and a lot of stuff you can work on unlocking.

But if you like games like Unreal Tournament where you can play for many hours against bots, or if you like Coop and Multiplayer games you can probably get many many many hours from this game.

If the game is as good as I am imagining then I am hopping of getting at least 200 hours from this game before I stop playing.

it is a multiplayer shooter, there’s no reason to stop playing once you’ve reach level 20.

wellcome to the forums btw

online play doesn’t get boring, tiring maybe

(xTriXxy) #5

exactly as nail said. and it depends also on the players you are playing with. find good clan and you will never get bored.

(Nail) #6

oh yeah, one of the devs said to finish both sides of campaign, about 10 hours

(SockDog) #7

My advice, treat the game as an experience rather than a race to a goal and you’ll appreciate it a whole lot more and it’ll be fun a whole lot longer.

I thought you could de-level any time? Sell back an ability, de-level.

So just so we are clear…
Is it 10 hours for EACH SEPERATE campaign (10 hours resistance, 10 hours security) or is it 10 hours all together meaning about 5 for each?

(elevator13) #10

I would guess 10 total. There are 6-8 missions per side depending on whether you include the “what-if” missions. With a half hour per mission, it might take 4 hours for each side if you win each match.

sorry i was using what another guy said on another forum… heres the link…go down to the 10th post and there is alot of information a small portion where he talks about the campaign and leveling up.

That sounds about right, to play through each map using class/character twice. But I plan on playing Brink a ton, using different builds of each class, and messing with the challenges and trying to get some people together for stopwatch mode.

Hell, I used to play counter strike for hours and hours. de_dust, that house one… militia? the warehouse hostage one, that one in sort of the European village, pretty much those four maps entertained me for hours and hours… I played counter-strike for close to two years, playing for an hour or two a night monday through Friday, and four or five hours Saturday and Sunday

so if you lose you have to restart and it will take another 30 min?
im confused you win and lose missions offline as well?

You can play the missions in any order, but if you want to beat the campaign yeah you’ll have to win the match. The time to complete the campaign is an estimate, and they are probably accounting for the fact you won’t steamroll every game especially in Versus. You’ll still get XP regardless if winning or losing though.

(ktr) #15

10 maps x 30 minutes per map x 2 factions = 10hours.

(Cankor) #16

This was before they cut the map count so they could save them for DLC

(Whydmer) #17

And playing a campaign mission once at say a low level, is at least advertised as being nothing like playing it a second time at a high level, even if both times are against bots. Furthermore even if you play a map several times at similar levels, because of the nature of the missions and the bots the game play will be different each time.

So even if your desire is to play only single player only, there is certain to be replay value.

You have 24 hours after purchasing an ability to sell it back - basically a trial period before it’s set in stone.

That’s what I’ve read, anyway.

(BioSnark) #19

don’t think that got implemented.

This feature was removed and is not part of the final version.
But you will have an option to set your skillpoints back and use them to invest in new/other abilities (like borderlands). This is not for free, you will lose your last reached character level.
