SD knows this. They can’t do anything now. It’s unfair for a game like Brink to be treated this way. Now 2011 is the worst year for gaming since 1983. I’m not ranting about SD nor am I going against them as I like SD and their games very much. But this is upsetting to me.
Brink isn't going anywhere.
Listen. If you believe that, I’m not saying your wrong.
I’m saying there is no reason to say that on the forums? Why the negativity?

Why not?
Is there another SD forum somewhere?
There’s a Bethesda forum.
And I’m saying if this game is doomed then why not leave so the people who enjoy it can? This post wasn’t even TRYING/PRETENDING to be constructive. Your stating what a lot of your kind (YOUR AN ALIEN) does. What is a Dev supposed to say to this? “Oh. He’s right. Damn.” or “Your wrong.”
And you are definitely right that a lot of the PC community will be gone with BF3… I hope you enjoy it.
I’ll give you points for your honesty though.
Why not?
Is there another SD forum somewhere?
No, but it’s impossible to read or post anything without running into a boatload of negativity.
Someone really should, and I’m being serious here, create “The Official Brink Complaint Thread” to resolve this issue.
You know what? You want me to do that?
Go ahead. Even if it were pinned, I don’t think many would use it (perhaps if those who didn’t use it were temp-banned?), but it might cut down on the negativity some.
I know I’m not a long time forum member, but if you guys had been around at launch you would know it was actually much worse. Despite my lack of fondness towards negativity I personally think most of the negativity these days consists of well-founded criticism about largely agreed upon flaws in the game. Unlike the OP’s post.

Although they are pretty much saying the same thing over and over, which gets old ridiculously fast. Oh, and the complaint thread is up, BTW: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php/30692-Brink-complaint-thread
What are people supposed to post about? If you don’t want to read the same stuff you don’t have to that’s your choice. As long as their posts promote discussion and provide decent arguments then they’re totally valid. I’d say there’s a pretty good balance of neg/pos compared to the past. There’s certainly a lot less “This game is a giant mother ****ing turd of game and no matter how much it’s polished will remain a great big pile of ****.” threads.
Considering the purpose of a forum is discussion it’s kind of an ineffectual idea to have a thread for all complaints. It’s pretty hard to discuss “all complaints” in a single thread.
*Again we are in total agreement on this thread in particular.
Here’s a cool story for you.
I tried playing some Brink at the end of the day like half an hour ago and just quitted after playing for 20 seconds. Tried different guns and character but quitted after playing one minute. I just decided to turn my Xbox off after that.
Guess I don’t get any satisfaction from seeing XP on my screen anymore. Brink with randoms is certainly not suspenseful or stimulating anymore at all. You just see people randomly running around and dying. What fun is it playing Medic? What fun is it playing an Engineer and seeing a progress bar progress? Yay.
Maybe I should travel to London and start some new riots. Nah, I think that would bore me to hell after 15 minutes anyway.
This is a complaint.
As a Heavy who is consistently grenade-shot to an instant death or knocked on his ass with 5% health, I’d like to make a suggestion:
Cut the explosive power/damage of grenade-shooting in half and maybe remove its knock-down ability.
Don’t get yer tapir-fur-lined panties in a knot just yet, grenade-shooting abusers! Hear me out…
This is criticism.
By complaints I’m referring to negative posts that don’t help SD fix their game in any way / are not specific enough. Those can be safely regulated to a complaint thread, IMO.
Brink have the opportunity to go somewhere, but i don’t think they will. I was so hyped up for this game. I said and I have seen in many post is that the AI should be fixed, know their priorities and playing much more smarter. Having maps that actually utilize the parkouring. actually having weapon customiztion. having more attachments and painting the weapons would be nice, but please release for free. having a more of a range of weapons would be nice as well. idk if anyone agreees with me on this one, but i believe the weapons are all too similar with the attributes. like the shotgun should be doing more damage then the assault rifle but they don’t. and theres ‘real’ snipers. one last thing that i reckon would defenitely convince me into playing again is to have team deathmatch.
thats all i have to say. the concept is good, but just some stuff the game could have done much better.
is he wrong? sd is hiring cause they don’t have resources. They have so poor resources that we don’t even know if they will fix important and primary bugs like the no-demo record, no more dlc are coming out, they said there won’t be any sdk, so plz tell me where brink is going cause i see already from here that we are in a dead end.
People will play same maps to death and when they’ll get bored they play something else. This was a game with the time bomb set on some months, hyped to the max to sell and get the booty to point on future achievements.
Time for bf3 and mw3 to come out and every1 will have forgotten brink anyways.
Azure19 is just facing the truth. The sad part is that there aren’t anymore games like quake 3 or rtcw. Made to be played years. Next time i won’t buy any sd games anymore. Promise.
2011 the worst year for gaming since 1983? I believe the correct response (I have researched this thouroughly on this Interweb thing) is: “L.O.L.W.U.T. ??! one one 1 ! ?”
Let’s look at some of the major releases that have happened or are due to happen in 2011 (We’ll ignore Brink as it is a point in contention):
Little Big Planet 2
Dead Space 2
Portal 2
L.A Noire
Bastion
Gears of War 3
Rage
Batman: Arkham City
Battlefield 3
Uncharted 3
Modern Warfare 3
Skyrim
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Torchlicght 2
Max Payne 3
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Not to menation Deus Ex: Human Revolution which (by all accounts so far) is being heralded as a worthy successor (it’s a prequel) of one of the most revered games in VG history.
You may not like all those games but they are all titles that make 2011 a very cool video gaming year.
As for the whole “Brink isn’t going anywhere” thing: that’s pretty much up to Bethesda. And I wouldn’t hold my breath as Bethesda don’t seem to like their customers very much. Hopefully more DLC and slow growing of the game into at least a cult classic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Beth jsut drop SD in the mud and walk away with as much money as they can.
Pretty much this.
Also don’t forget Red Orchestra 2 which looks like an amazing multiplayer game and Dead Island which could be hilarious in coop.
Also lol:
Someone’s confusing a feature with a bug.

Nexo
You call demo recording a feature? So is a crosshair to you, right? … and even this is bugged with g_showgun 0
Well since demo recording doesn’t alter the gameplay at all nor is it vital; yes, it’s a feature.
Also no, a crosshair is a crucial part of gameplay. Crosshair customisation however, is not.
Regards,
Nexo
Demo recording is a feature that was bugged so was removed.
A crosshair is a game element, the ability to customise it would be a feature.
