Brink is at war..

(SockDog) #41

It’s a different kind of marketing though. Theatre mode or good demo tools would enable more long term marketing, user meme creation around the game. The sort of stuff Activision does for BlOps is little more than jamming the radar with some much noise people have little option but to be exposed to the game.

Point is Bethesda isn’t going to spend $200mil on marketing Brink so they should spend their money wisely and more importantly look to some original ways to do so.

(Nail) #42

I personally think the game will sell itself, along the lines of W:ET, but like W:ET only to a certain segment of the gaming population, they’ll be the long term players no matter what, good advertising/marketing might get them the sales to finance their next game “My Little Pony:Combat Edition”

(Seyu) #43
Activision spent $50 million to develop BLOPS, they spent $200 million on launch. you think a theatre mode is what made over a billion $ in sales ?

nope, advertising

I don’t think Bethesda will have to match that, they have a solid game from proven developers, but it sure couldn’t hurt
Yea, just look at what happened with Singularity, a solid game with a negligible ad budget on it.

(SockDog) #44

W:ET was free and a solid game. Brink not being free is going to impact the accessibility to appreciate the solid game aspect.

(DarkangelUK) #45

W:ET also had entire communities and groups dedicated to movie making, so did Q3, so did Counter Strike… all games still being played today with movies still being made for them. To dismiss the sustaining potential of good demo and capturing tools is silly. ETQW’s were poor at best, very limited, difficult and time consuming, and a giant step in the wrong direction.

where’d you get those figures. i’m not fussing just curious…

(Seyu) #47

Those figures are true for Modern Warfare 2.

(Herandar) #48

THQ’s ad campaign for Homefront is unusual for the current market, They are investing a LOT of money in this game, and it has to do well for them to turn it into a franchise with yearly releases… They also started advertising months before most videogames are advertised. There is stuff out there on the internet for people to actively seek out, but John Doe who doesn’t follow video games doesn’t hear about most games until a few weeks before launch.

You’ll see Brink ads in May.

thanks mate…
much appreciated…

It’s alright. Brink is getting its own back --> Check the comments towards the bottom

(Murderous Pie) #51

That’s true, i think that if Bethesda doesn’t truely get this game recognised by the general public soon BRINK will die on console along with ET:QW. of course, bethesda will probably screw ads for BRINK and just work on ads for The Elder Scrolls 5, which really sucks.

P.S, I love elder scrolls, but that game gets enough recognition already… people are already freaking about it!

I’m sure Bethesda wants Brink to fail so that they can lose money. That’s how all businesses function, right?

There hasn’t been any marketing for Elder Scrolls 5 yet.

just like how they all heat their homes by burning stacks of $100’s in the winter…

If you can’t light your cigar with a crisp Benjamin Franklin, why smoke a cigar in the first place?

(H0RSE) #55

There hasn’t been any marketing for Elder Scrolls 5 yet.

Well, they did release a teaser trailer, and there are articles explaining aspects of the game.

I think his point was, Skyrim doesn’t come out until the November, and even without massive media coverage, people are already aware of it and excited.

(Herandar) #56

Just like the public will be for the release Brink 2: The Destruction of the Ark, I am sure.

(crazybruinfan4) #57

Lmao this is a great movie

psst, nobody reads that area of google.

That isn’t true, not only did Bethesda show off the teaser at the Spike’s show, there are articles and interviews all over gaming mags and sites. But then again, it wouldn’t be fair to compare the anticipation and advertisement for an established series like The Elder Scrolls with that for a new IP.

(Dormamu) #60

The Elder Scrolls do not need marketing, it will be marketed by the fans :D. Morrowind made me upgrade my PC with a smile on my face, the same with Oblivion, is one of those games who make you think how much money you need to pump in your PC, not how much it cost :D. I hope Brink will become like TES, a mammoth who will wipe everything in his path.
