Just a quick question. How come brink doesn’t look like this?

It is disappointing, because that is what sold me on this game.:frowning:

I realize many of the Brink videos really overhyped the game and made it appear to have a deep storyline, etc. However, when I watch this video I have to say this is how the game actually looks (PS3). Of course that is just my opinion. What system are you playing it on?

(ifistursist3r) #3

I’m on xbox. I can hardly ever find any games with people in them though.

(Kurushi) #4

Just noticed the old Container City had an other way out of spawn

(MorsTua) #5

same is for pc and ps3 cause the game isn’t playable at all. And thank you to bethesda and sd that are totally ignoring customers’s requests.
It’s frustrating get total silence from SD, at our requests, answers, doubts…
They will “pay” this mistake on their next title.

But anyways, don’t worry, some fanboy will pop soon to tell you that this game is the best seller everytime, it’s a must and that sd did a great job. Did they? Judge yourself…

Big difference; ingame characters talking to you. Ther’s not such a thing in the final product, only the intro movies. But ingame communication is crucial for the SP. To “humanize” the bots. And to make a connection with them.

Interesting…I was in several full games just last night on the PS3. Man, we had some great matches, came right down to the wire.

Some screens about the 3rd Exit remove on the final release … what a fail !!!

(Crytiqal) #9

How can you have an opinion if the game looks exactly like the video or not?

Im baffled

because it’s a qualitative assessment. there you go again.

(i for one appreciate that Trag isn’t stating his qualitative assessment as a absolute fact - something that is all too common on these forum (and the net in general)

(SebaSOFT) #11

One word… INSTA-PLANT

The third exit should be to the FAR FAR right, and end up in the top of the right access orange container (where resistance have a stairway)

No it’s not :s

If a game looks exactly the same then making a screenshot from the same place and angle would produce an exact copy of the image shown in the screenshot above (apart from the green addings).
Overlaying the two pictures would produce the same picture.

How is that an opinion?

now you’re taking the thread out of context and making it into something that it didn’t start as…

theme of thread:
here’s a video of brink, how come it doesn’t look anything like this video?
one response:
actually, i think it does look like that

note: i take this as a general response that the game, more or less, does look like the video. of course there are some minor differences, and obviously the bot dialogue and the 3rd exit, etc are different, but the video is certainly recognizable as what the game looks like - more or less (which is I’m quite certain TH’s point).

you’ve displaced the original discussion point with a different (but related) point, and are judging the original discussion under the terms of your new framework - but you didnt admit to as much, instead, you made a lame comment about being supposedly ‘baffled’ by the logic of the original framework.

yes you are absolutely correct. if we create two identically situated screen captures of the original footage with current gameplay footage, there will be some noticeable differences in the details. happy?

(Crytiqal) #14

Now my responds was how can it be an opinion if something looks exactly the same.
It either does or it doesn’t. (speaking of how it looks)
And not minor details, lol.

As for the rest of your negative post, yes, also the gameplay is not the same as you mentioned.
Therefor, it doesn’t look the same, and it doesn’t play the same.

Conslusion:
The released game is not the same as the video. In both aspects

(Zanchile) #15

i never realised how good the container city trailer looks. . . did you see how people werent highlighted but had that x hovering on them?and the graphics were realistic and colorful. keep the new hud but i want THAT. ALL OF IT. Graphics X and Spawn exit.

(peteXnasty) #16

The video looks way better. Lack of pointless HUD additions, better textures, better special effects, more immersive details (such as flying debris), better lighting and color rather than the oversaturate orange of container city…worlds apart.

(MrFoxer) #17

That’s basically what Brink looks like currently, not graphically, but gameplay wise, minus the hud, the beginning was really just an interactive cutscene.

(weeschwee) #18

the lighting is different too. there were a few threads like this after the game launched. it doesn’t quite look like that even on pc. shadows and bloom are more noticeable in the video and other pointed out how explosions, or at least the bomb detonation, looked different/better in the video. not sure what happened. maybe they had to tone down the graphics for optimization.

(dunway) #19

This was the one that hooked me a year in a half ago…

Why throw this out showing things you can’t do,
truth in advertising? I think not, It did what it was
designed to do- sell the game! I bit, how bout you.

Don’t get me wrong, I still play off and on but I
believed what I read, a polished game it’s not-
disappointed I am- arg!

starting to sound like yoda…
