Brink editing/customization Tutorials site

(Wezelkrozum) #1

Go to www.BrinkTutorials.com to follow the progress

If there is enough potention for this website, it will be realised very soon. With the release of the SDK in mind new mapping and modding tutorials will show up very soon. To keep those tutorial at one central place in stead of forums and websites around the web, and to support the Brink community I was thinking of one central website where everyone can publice their tutorials.

Current design:

The website will provide:
An account system (You will need to register before you can place tutorials, to prevent bots)
Tutorials which has:

  • Categories: Gaming, Hosting, Mapping, Modding
  • A difficulty (beginner till advanced)
  • Chapters
  • Tags
  • Reactions
  • Votes (+ or -)
  • A host for files the readers need
  • Embedded images and video’s
    Downloads with:
  • Categories: Maps, Mods, Prefabs, Tools
  • Description
  • Tags
  • Reactions
  • Votes (+ or -)

Let me know what you think of this idea!

Looks good, though I think it’s useful instead of usefull. Just being nitpicky

You already could put the site on with for example the different config programs like Brinkkit etc.

Sorry, English has been a while for me :stuck_out_tongue:

Good idea btw!

maybe got no sdk…

(Wezelkrozum) #5

Be positive, always, hope and be positive!

(Darksider) #6

Cool, Looking forward to making some textures or maybe models, if the SDK ever gets release. Last one I made was the Boomer Thong for Left4Dead I made a couple of years back.

(Deadwalking) #7

Nice idea!

Keeping fingers crossed.

(Wezelkrozum) #8

Lol, Boomer Thong is epic:tongue:

(Wezelkrozum) #9

Here is an update of the design. The second tutorial is hovered by somebody’s mouse.

(.Chris.) #10

Nice idea, I think most stuff would be covered in the editing wiki though be good for non english tutorials perhaps. Hope you realise though that it will be very similar to ET:QW editing, I seem to remember you had a bash at that and quit early on.

(Dolo_420) #11

I’m not sure there will be a sdk for this game. I have been killing small animals for a few days now but there have been no updates.

(kilL_888) #12

just wait a few more months.

bethesda and splash damage usually release modding tools. why wouldnt they in the future?

but to be honest, what i dont want is getting brink destroyed because of thousands of mini mods that do nothing except adding weired sounds and stuff like this. i would be totally happy if they just release the leveleditor.

(Seiniyta) #13

Both the Elder Scrolls Series as the Wolfenstein/Quake Wars received an SDK, I don’t see why they woudln’t, I just think Splash Damage is too busy with dlc, fixing stuff to bother with an SDK right now

(Super-Pangolin) #14

This doesn’t even concern me as a console player (just popping through briefly ), but I certainly approve.

On another note, GJ with the web design. I’ll probably visit the site just to have a little look, and go “OOO PRETTY”

(StillBatusBrad) #15

^^Agreed!

Dapper-looking site, OP - mucho kudos, hope it pans out for you.

(neg0ne) #16

great idea!!!

(cheezespread) #17

I agree that this is a great idea. Then again , can you check if someone is already is working on something like that ( Good that you posted)? It could save you a lot of effort.

Repped!

Came here to post this.

That said, given that the ETQW wiki was never opened up to users (it was supposed to be wasn’t it? Or am I imagining it?), it might make sense to duplicate whatever we’re given so that the community can get stuck in with updating and developing without waiting for Bethesda to get their finger out.

In retrospect, a combined third-party wiki/community site would have been so much better than the Actifail forums and locked off wiki. SD would almost certainly have featured it prominently over here too, so through-traffic wouldn’t have been nil either.

@cheezespread:
I’ve searched around the web but didn’t found any brink tutorial website. Except some gameplay tutorials at Youtube.

Thanks for all your support. After viewing the results of the poll I decided to give it a try and register the domain. I think a host with unlimited bandwidth and diskspace will be USEFUL (with one L) since we will store a lot of files up there. I expect the site to be online next week and make a temporary static webpage with some basic info.

If there are any webdeveloper (php, mysql, ajax, javascript etc) willing to help, just pm me!
And if your not a webdeveloper but think you have some great ideas, post it here

One concern, should the website be available for mobiles too?

(Deadwalking) #20

I hate all the mobile stuff, but that is because I am cheap, jealous, and still rock an oldschool phone.

If it isnt to much work for you to add the mobile ability to the web space I am sure a lot of people would digg it.

Looking forward to checking it out.
