It’s your right to love or hate anything you want, it is also our right to speak about it. If you don’t care about or want to see ‘other than happy’ views, then YOU are in the wrong place. I’m very happy for those of you that are satisfied and having a great gaming experience with Brink. My opinion (and others like it) shouldn’t change that.
I agree with you fearlessfox and appreciate you honestly giving your opinion to the article (which this thread is attached to) despite being bashed for it! Know that MANY others share your opinion, who are reading the same article and looking for anything to save this title to them and justify the time and money they’ve spent on it…only to be let down even further! It gets just as frustrating sometimes for us reading only: “awesome”, “love you SD” and “best game ever” when we can’t play a decent online game and the AI for the bots is the worst balancing I think I’ve ever seen. Feels like I’m reading the forum about a different game than the one I bought. Also, this DLC feels more like a few things that were left on the cutting room floor, nowhere near enough to make up for the condition of the game as it is now.
Me and all my friends (who bought Brink) all spent the last year believing SD was fine tuning the artistic and innovative game we had all seen in the gameplay and dev diary vids and images (since no demo was released or reviews allowed pre-release). Instead, it appears they spent the last year cutting, dithering, tweaking the things we originally liked about it, until it turned into a shell of what we were told it would be. Personally, I’m highly disappointed what they released as Brink and find its not worth the $60 I paid for it (a lot of money for me to just throw away). That’s taking Brink for what it is and not what it could be. I love what it could be, and hope they’ll fix it before everyone I know shelves it or trades it in.
Sorry for the long post, scroll past it if you don’t wanna read it, it’s your right.
PS- We did have faith in the devs, when we purchased the game. If a console (or any) version wasn’t finished, they shouldn’t have released it. Exactly how long should someone be expected to patiently and quietly wait till they get the complete and functioning “as advertised” game? Answer: As long as it takes them to take the disk out of the box and install it. I’ve heard developers’ countless promises for upcoming patches that will ‘fix’ all the issues that are known with a game, only to have them never come through.
PPS-fox, you’re not the only one who has that prob on the PS3 version, and my friends list is completely full. Only a portion of them bought Brink, only some of them were still giving it a chance by waiting on this DLC and patch. But this has probably nailed the coffin shut on Brink for most of them. I’m sorry to say fox, it’s probably about to get even harder to find online games on the PS3.
