..Brink dev says launch was rough, game found success on PC

Rage = Meh only because they didn’t do a true MP mode. The movement, shooting mechanics, the way the guns “feel”, even the gore all remind me of a next gen W:ET. If they do a proper mod for the PC this could be an amazing MP game. If Brink moved the way Rage does in those vids it would be a much better game.

No that’s not the reason…HL and HL2 are phenomenal FPS games - and not because of their multiplayer.

Rage looks meh, simply because from what I’ve seen, other than the nice graphics from the idtech5 engine, it doesn’t look to bring anything new to the table. Nothing strikes me as interesting - nothing really caught my attention (except the new idtech5 engine)

Besides, as far as I’m concerned, co-op is just as good if not better than MP, and Rage has that.

I was expecting a real MP experience from Rage, from my point of view , i see Rage as a ID5 engine commercial, nothing more, nothing less.
As a RPG fan, and with The Witcher 2.0 (FREE DLC), DE:HR, i will try “the demo” of Rage before buying, if i finish the Dark Mode, DE:HR, and i like what i see from “the demo”, i will probably buy Rage to keep me busy until 11.11.2011

Co-op and Vs are both viable MPs. As long as something is fun and you get to share that fun with friends does it matter if you’re shooting at or with your friends?

I’m sure Rage will be at least a solid game. The question is will it be good enough to get and play immediately or will it happily sit on the back burner while something like Deus Ex amuses me for a while and then I can pick it up later after all the hype has died down.

I think I’m going to go for the latter option. There’s been lots of buzz about it flying around and I think I want to wait to see what the actual content is.

Was losing most of your fanbase over a game still broke months after release really worth a “monetary success”?

(Exedore) #106

If you guys had any idea how tired I was when I said all this… I’m shocked it’s in somewhat comprehensible English

I believe you. You won a lot of trust back when you acknowledged gameplay should be top priority. Just to bad the other higher ups don’t think the same.

Good for Brink! It was the 3rd highest-selling game on the 360 in the UK for the week ending August 20.
