Cool! Exodore pumping up the Brink train. Yay! Chug-a-Chuga!
Keep fixing and tweaking.
Nerf Downed Fire Please!
More DLC please.
10 more maps too much to ask? Nah! There’s like 30 grayed out areas on the Brink Stat Site Map!

All aboard!

Don’t hate me.

Nice to hear they plan continuous support.
Good for SD. Bringing out a new IP in a sequel flooded genre is always going to be tough and they really didn’t do themselves any favours with all the glitchiness on launch, but I think they’re doing due diligence and look forward to what’s in store.
I just hope they’re making notes for their future titles

i always learn more from my mistakes than my successes…(of course, this means i should be a genius, given my mistake/failure:success ratio…lol)

indeed - glad to hear they’ve picked up some momentum on the PC side. a larger (and growing) playerbase has helped ps3 (and xbox i hear as well) considerably.

It’s good to hear that you guys are still planning to continue to support and tweak the game.

Just know that I’m totally ready for more DLC, even if it costs this time. I want to support people like yourselves, who are continuing to work on something unique despite all the early criticism.

Regards,
Nexo

Honestly the game is getting better and better with each patches… Enjoying the game more now since there quite a few more players playing online now than there was 2/3 weeks ago before the free weekend and Brink sale.

(Duraigo) #7

Brink like wine, it gets better and better with age.

(dazman76) #8

Well, I’m glad the DLC and the discount brought some new sales for Brink and SD  I’m also happy to see Exedore talking about future improvements and support, and mentioning that much work is to be done. I downloaded the DLC, but I haven’t played it yet - if I see some of my wishlist happening, I’ll give it a go - but I’m currently sceptical that any of that will be touched, since it affects major systems in the game. Still, I’ll retain some hope for now - for the time being, props to Neil/Ex for being open and honest in the chat with Joystiq.

I think that most of his statements were fair: rough start but better now. It is true that there is an over-reliance on patching incomplete products now in the software industry. It seems that a lot of stuff ships borked and then is patched up later. It makes me sad. As for Brink, I’ll take what I can get, and it’s been more fun lately with more players around.

Ill admit I have been quite the critic of the game, but I respect EXe for admiting the flaws and promising us PC players long term support. If they do as they say then you can expect my purchase of future DLC’s.

Thank you

Alphonso said it’s too early to discuss if the game will retain a significant portion of the new players.

I’d dispute that.

That’s generally why wine isn’t sold straight away.

[QUOTE=tokamak;370437]I’d dispute that.

Do you always have to be so negative? Especially in such a non-constructive way?
And wine is generally sold straight away with some stock held in reserve to mature. Some collectors will purchase it to keep age themselves. But stretching analogies like this to try and make points is just silly.
If you have nothing nice or constructive to say do you really have to try and downer everyone else?

If you don’t like the game that’s fine. I understand you like ET:QW and consider this a step back, but a lot of people here enjoy the game for it’s more casual approaches (amongst other things) and this thread is discussing the article and the possibility of ongoing supprt and changes to the game. If you have something to discuss about it then please, go ahead. But sticking your head in to sulk is acting a bit like an emo teenager.

A post saying “you’re wrong. It sucks” isn’t worth the time it took to post. If you want to elaborate then please do. At the very least link to another thread where you do elaborate on the points relevant to this thread.

Really glad to hear that there will be ongoing support for the game. Although I imagine SD will be keeping release dates and info about upcoming DLC closer to their chests based on the community response with the last one.

Not saying the response was completely uncalled for, but the missed release date(s) appear to have caused more problems than announcing the DLC in the first place was worth.

(tokamak) #14

Yeah I think Exedore is being positive in a non-constructive way. Herp derp, rough ride, but ‘okay’, last time he even had to guts to say something like ‘hindsight is a harsh mistress’ while anyone on this forum could’ve told them the outcome had they had a look at the game before it was released. ‘Oh gosh but how could we know that such feedback was impossible if we didn’t supply any footage before the release?’

If you don’t like the game that’s fine. I understand you like ET:QW and consider this a step back, but a lot of people here enjoy the game

Oh you wouldn’t hear me if that was actually true! I wouldn’t mind a popular casual game advertising the ET concept. But it’s not is it? Brink’s playerbase is in one word pathetic. They say it’s decent on the consoles but it’s not, Brink dropped from the Top 20 most played games two weeks after the release. They’ve been utterly underestimating both the console and the pc players and dumbed everything down far enough for people to take that as an insult.

So here it is, a game with a bloody brilliant concept, amazing art direction and incredible content all jizzed over by the putrid gunk of producers who want to make it accessible to the lowest nitwit they could imagine. Man I’m getting good at circumventing the profanity filters.

(nephandys) #15

What do you want him to say? The game’s garbage? Here’s a list of all the current problems with the game? Here’s all the reasons why ETQW is vastly superior? That would basically be saying “please don’t buy our product” and no company or representative of a company in their right mind would ever say that. It was a rough ride and hindsight is a bitch are about the best you’re going to get/could ask for.

(Humate) #16

Heres another one…

Brink ‘strayed too far from convention,’ says designer

Interesting quote:

Americans prize individualism a lot more, this [kind of class-based team multiplayer] didn’t catch on as much over there as it did here [in Europe]. I don’t mean to slander them all, though. Some absolutely love it."

(tokamak) #17

That or Americans learn to shoot guns before they can walk an want to hit what they aim at.

Oh I’m not denying that this is a glossy sales talk.

(sanDIOkan) #18

BRINK PC WAS A SUCCESS???
probably they have another meaning of the word success

lol I gotcha then. We’re totally on the same page there.

[QUOTE=sanDIOkan;370467]BRINK PC WAS A SUCCESS???

I think they’re talking in terms of money, paying rent, keeping the studio running. I don’t think anyone would consider a game that sheds hundreds of players a day and pulls in no new ones a success by any measure of delusional mind bending drugs.

Thing is I’m not sure they understand that they sold a lot based on the hype and history. Two things they’ve soured greatly. What person who bought and played Brink for a few weeks before turning to another game is going to consider purchasing another SD game on the same terms?
