are you guys saying that you’re all freackishly rich and can afford $3,000 dollar computers?

I’m a console player, so I’m not a part of that population, but you don’t have to be freakishly rich. It’s all about planning and your priorities. Also, PCs are much cheaper if you put them together yourself.
richi rich would buy a PC for $3k, i’ve grown up with those things and i can say that even tho i like to invest a few more bucks to make it last a bit longer i never spent that much.
half the sum always got me rig which lasted (specs-wise) for 2 years plus.
this is totally a subjective standpoint, but you can make it work. taking all perks such as web (applies more to 5-10 ago), applications (MS office, photoshop, video cutting software, etc) into the equation it’s always been money wisely spent in my case…
Drama llama. Seyu understands what is going on, so it’s not just I telling myself I made sense. All I see is a fuss being made about my use of quotes despite elaborate explanations. We’ll never have a mutual understanding. At this point I could care less what you think about my character.
Not everyone maintains thousands of dollars for multiple hobbies. I mostly just work on computers, so I have more money to allocate for parts. If I went skiing, to a rifle range, boating, climbing, etc I would have to spend money on all those things. Most people are not willing to consider computers a serious enough hobby to spend so much on because they’d rather do outdoor things. That’s why consoles are looked at as more casual. Because you’re just collecting games and not spending time with components to get to a point where they can be played. Computer gaming gets to be an expensive hobby, so if you’re not rich and like doing outdoor things then you never get to spend too much on them. Building them requires continuing knowledge because of technological changes. Not keeping up will cause people to pay too much for the wrong part. Their ignorance doesn’t reward them, but a lot of people on ebay are still making a lot of money on older parts.

Also, Auzner and Darkangel, you guys seem to be getting nowhere. Best to move on before someone gets hurt.
