Brink ability preview on Facebook

(Mustkunstn1k) #1

With Brink now coming out a week earlier, we plan to vault over the next month even faster, with loads of fresh info blasting straight into your feeds.

For instance, over the next two weeks, Brink fans will want to head over to the game’s Facebook page, where we’ll be spilling the details on many of the abilities players will be able to unlock. Just head to http://www.facebook.com/brinkthegame and give us a “like” to get the updates each day.

Hell yeah. New ability info inc soon.

Day 1: Grenade Shooting
Grenade Shooting allows you to shoot down your own Frag grenades mid-flight, giving you more control over when and where they will explode (if your aim is right.)

Day 2: The Operative’s Cortex Bomb
The Cortex Bomb is a surgically implanted explosive charge that can be detonated when you’re Incapacitated, eliminating nearby units.

Day 3: The Medic’s Self Resurrection
Self Resurrection allows you to Revive yourself when Incapacitated. There is a very long Cooldown period between successive uses.

Day 4: The Soldier’s Scavenge
Scavenge the equipment of Dead enemies by interacting with them to refill your Supply meter.

Day 5: The Engineer’s Gatling Turret
This lets you plant a Gatling auto-turret which will detect and fire at any enemies. You cannot purchase this Ability without first purchasing Light Turret and Medium Turret

Day 6: -

Day 7: Downed Fire
Downed Fire lets you shoot even when you’re Incapacitated, but only with your backup weapon, and only after an initial delay. You will have almost no Health while Incapacitated, making it easy for enemies to finish you, so it’s less likely that a Medic will be able to revive you.

Day 8: Control Turret
Control Turret allows you to take remote First Person control of friendly turrets. To initiate remote control, first place the device on the turret, and then interact with it from a distance.

Day 9: The Soldier’s Satchel Charge
Satchel Charges are remote control bombs plantable on any flat surface. You can place up to 3 and detonate them simultaneously.

Day 10: The Engineer’s Command Post Upgrade
Command Post Upgrade allows you to upgrade any Health or Supply Command Post to double its effect on the entire team.

Day 11: The Medic’s Lazarus Grenade
The Lazarus Grenade is an experimental pharmaceutical aerosol bomb, letting you Revive all Incapacitated teammates within its healing cloud. There is a Cooldown period between successive uses.

Sweet C:

Even tho I fear we know half of them already^^

(Humate) #3

According to that brink wiki site, theres only one that we dont know.

(PariahDog) #4

Assuming none got removed. Also hopefully they will find their way to this forum as well (this thread would be a perfect point) for those of us that refuse to use FB.

At first I thought that they were going to give us one ability every day until launch. But they only have 30 days… Interesting.

(JeP) #6

Lol, a french guy thought that ability would allow us to throw grenades

(Schwarzeis) #7

I thought this would make us able to shoot our opponents grenades too :<

(JeP) #8

I think it won’t, and neither our mates’ grenades. But could be wrong.

(H0RSE) #9

They originally wanted it to that, but it found that it was just too powerful.

(Murderous Pie) #10

wait a sec… the link does not work for me but if grenade shooting does not allow you to shoot enemy grenades, what does it do?

(H0RSE) #11

Shoot your own grenades - like throw one, and shoot it so it explodes right where you want it to. To me, it seems like a poor man’s grenade cooking. maybe it does more/different damage upon explosion.

(Humate) #13

Um, it allows you to shoot your own nades.
Based on the Pax 2010 video, its pretty lethal.

(Cankor) #14

Tremendous advantage in being able to release the nade NOW instead of waiting for the cook to finish when some guy is shooting at you.

Also, it can be hard to get a nade to go off in mid air right where you want it (guy is maybe high up in a place wheer the ande would just fall past him for instance).

(Humate) #15

The nade shooting sounds similar to the shock combo in UT.
Hopefully the hitbox on the nade isn’t massive, so it actually takes skill to pull off.

If it doesn’t, there are always the Netvars to change it up.

Baby! That is my new favorite word.

(Seyu) #17

It’s netvars actually. lol

Day 2… cortex bomb. Kind of seems like one of those noob abilities.

Especially funny if anyone try to melee you with a knife xD
btw: We´ve day three already, but no new skill is shown until now :frowning:

If it’s a relatively small radius (which it will be), and if it’s not a guaranteed one-shot (which it won’t be, because nothing in Brink is one-shot), then I don’t see how it’s a “noob ability”

It’s a good counter against Operatives using you for radar info (the Hack Comms/Interrogate ability - different people have called it different things, but it gives your team 10 seconds of radar tracking of all enemies).

Also, explosives are usually knockdown weapons, so if you have a teammate nearby to take advantage, you can help even the odds just by suiciding in the right place and making people fall over.
