Brink 2: Would You Buy It?
Hell yeah! Where Do I Sign?
Brink, Brink DLC, Brink 2, 3, Remasterd W:ET on id5, map pack for R.W:ET, you name it, etc.
I think the amount of players that stopped playing make the poll redundant. I really hope the dlc and update make the game more fun to play. I have fun with Brink an hour or so at a time, the problem is there’s not nearly enough meat on the game to keep it fun for over an hour or even short bursts daily. What makes it so frustrating is that you can see there’s a lot of potential there. It’s Even more frustrating when it feels like we’re being completely left in the dark regarding the dlc and update progress. SD said June, then early July, I think we deserve at least a progress update.
The game just feels totally incomplete. 8 maps, about 4 useful weapons, 2 useful body types, stupidest bots that have been included in a title of this magnitude since like 1999, etc. It’s great that they’re trying to fix it, but the selling game unfinished then working on it through patches is pretty lame. I honestly believe if you took out the customization aspect and used force team/class models there’s no reason why this shouldn’t have been a downloadable title. There’s just nothing there. I wouldn’t ask for anything more out of a downloadable title, I wouldn’t expect anything more, and $14.99 is about right for the game we got.
Even if you like Brink, let’s put it bluntly, Brink is a tremendous failure. I think attaching “Brink” to any future project would only hurt it.
No.
Even if they were to make ETQW2 on idtech5 I wouldnt buy it.
Actually maybe if Kevin Cloud came back to help them I might

Only 8 maps but aren’t they played 2 different ways? Offense vs Defense? Most games ship with 10 maps max, right?
I would buy it. Just look how far the Gears of War multiplayer has come. It started off just like Brink laggy and glitchy. It takes a lot to revolutionize a genre so we just have to be patient and hope that Splash Damage gets it right the second time around.
Awwwwwwwwwwwweeeeesooooooooooooooomeeee! You sir, I commend! Hail to the chief. So glad to have you 'round here! This is what I’ve been saying since day one! That’ll stick in the craw of some folk round these parts, I’d reckon!
are you serious? stop feeling like you have to defend everything.
8 unique environments. playing a map on offense and playing a map on defense is still playing the same map.
edit: You’re worse than most of those you label as “trolls.”
Also, I’ll expand on my previous post.
The reason Brink is a failure is because they designed a game around 2 gimmicks. Gimmick 1: SMART. Gimmick 2: Customization.
They designed and tried to mold their core gameplay around these two gimmicks. They did it completely backwards.
They should have designed a solid, balanced, objective based team shooter then added the frills. They spent so much time dressing it up they didn’t have time to make the actual game.
There’s no substance under all that fluff. There’s barely a game under there. That’s why there’s no question it should have been released as a downloadable title. I wonder how big the file size would be if they got rid of all those tacky outfits.

Multiplayer Fixes.
1.) Streamline the game modes as follows:
Freeplay (2 modes six playlists total)
Objective= Standard or Ranked(Competitive) or Custom(Private)
Stopwatch= Standard or Ranked(Competitive)or Custom(Private)
2.) Add Red Highlight to a Bot name. (Or whatever will make the bots more recognizable over humans.) Make it so bots are only added to even out a team. For instance. If one team has 4 humans and the other team has 3 humans. Then the team with 3 humans gets one Bot added to their team. Add lobby/party system.
3.) Setup maps to even out Defense vs Offensive balance. Make most maps a %50 split.
With some of these changes or adjustments, Brink 2 would do really well.
Ok these are for sure the big issues that made the game fail…really good point adding a red highlight to bot name! That’s the point!
It surprises me that “no” for the PS3 is currently up 19-10 in voting.
Of all three platforms that Brink is on, the PS3 posters here have been the most positive (overwhelmingly, in my estimation).
You’re missing the point…
You are taking one example, and using it as a rebuttal. My observations are across many different sites and forums - It’s a general observation. I never said no console players never, ever visit developer/publishers - just that in the grand scheme of things, it tends to be PC players that are more likely to frequent these types of forums.
I 2nd this statement. Most console gamers are either on GameFAQs, console websites (Xbox.com), or chat on the comments section of IGN or Gamespot.
Wasn’t Gears of War 2’s MP worse than the original? It was all laggy and junk from what I heard.
But I wouldn’t buy BRINK 2 before I tried it; before BRINK any SD game was an instant preorder, but now it isn’t. They’d also have to show their game running on a PC with a mouse and keyboard doing showing off really accurate guns, little spread, strafejumping and everything else that made ET games fast paced.
Voted no for all platforms. Would rather drink poison and eat broken glass than buy another SD title
Voted no (PC of course…), but there really needs to be a “No way in flaming hell” option, since in the past few days the game didnt even break 300 players at one time, or 600 players top.
Edit: Before making a second Brink, SD needs to prove themselves capable and fix our current Brink.
Also, they’ve been saying free DLC for a while, first mid/end of june then early july, IT’S MID JULY, no dlc…see where I’m going with this.
Brink 2 wtf, Bethesda is quickly going towards EA/activision territory for me…I have a bad feeling about Rage too (only because of Brink).
