Brink 2 is likely

(Azure19) #1

After seeing all of these polls Badman has posted, I need to recommend Splash Damage a bunch of things for a Brink 2.

  1. Get Bethesda Game Studious to help work on Single player and the story of Brink.
  2. Make Brink have a traditional campaign or better yet, make it open world. If the ID Tech 5 engine doesn’t work well for open world, get Bethesda Game Studious to make a traditional campaign for Brink with a rich, deep story with strong characters and unique things in the single player.
  3. Have different game modes but make unique ones that we can specifically choose.People want unique game modes.Critics typically complain if a game has game mode already seen and done before.
  4. Give Brink 2 more depth, addiction, content, restriction, unlockables, ranks, maps, and more in Brink 2. A traditional and special multiplayer always succeeds in the long term in online gaming.
  5. Do what you do best Splash Damage, multiplayer.
  6. Make Brink 2 more than just a improvement but something special. You don’t have to perfect a game like Valve did to make it great or superb. If you do it right with the time you have the benefits will be huge.
  7. For customization give us custom colors for more customizable fun.
  8. If you want to make sure people will learn the multiplayer like you tried to do by putting that in the single player, don’t. Just have a combat training mode that gives to some training for the multiplayer of Brink like a tutorial.
  9. Get Bethesda to get higher budget for Brink. Bethesda will make a LOT of money off or Rage and Skyrim. If you can convince Bethesda that you’ve learned and know what to do to make a amazing sequel. Get them to give in a higher budget for Brink 2. It still doesn’t have to be like the way Valve makes games.
  10. Don’t hype up Brink 2 so quickly. If you can Make Brink 2 a critically acclaimed game with plenty to offer as well and more, you will get very high sales as long as if the game doesn’t pop out of nowhere like Red Faction Armageddon did.
  11. Don’t get Bethesda to rush Brink 2 like they made Brink 1. Get Bethesda to give some more time with Brink 12. Don’t make a PS3 version. I have nothing against the PS3 but if you have to make Brink 2 on so many platforms it will be hard. Preferably make if for Xbox 360 and PC unless if you want to on Xbox 360 exclusively (No offense at all PC gamers) because more PC gamers want SDK or you can post Brink 2 to another platform later on but preferably start with the Xbox 360 and PC.

Those are some of my ideas and recommendations for Brink 2 I can’t wait to see your. I hope Splash Damage takes note of my suggestions and Badman sees and posts on this thread.

I would think what they want is for their fans to be happy so we keep coming back for more…

Client-developer-publisher

Or,OP do u think SD is newbie in games? Be finanzmeister and pay for good game.

(tangoliber) #6

I think it will be a new IP… but in the same style, of course.

I’m one who doesn’t care about a single player campaign or alternate game modes. I also don’t care about unlockables or ranks. I only care about the core multiplayer gameplay.

I’d like to see a maximum 4v4 game, actually. Something very personal, that really focuses on duels and creative combinations of classes/abilities.

(Nail) #7

Most “fans” want SD to deliver a new game with the impact of W:ET, I don’t think any company without the resources of Acti-zard can afford to spend that kind of money on developing and marketing a “NEW” game. “Fans” seem to have a huge sense of entitlement and like to dictate personal preferences as “must haves”. I’d rather SD made a game and said nothing about it until it was ready for testing.

Nail, and what about cs?

If they drop Brink 1 without even fighting for it I won’t even think about getting a Brink 2.

Unless Brink 2 would be pc exclusively and promised with sdk/maptools and stock maps will be bigger than a few hallways.

I demand more nipples!

I mean… WOMEN! Sorry… I have a hard time not objectifying women. = /

Have a well organized beta phasing next time. I know you think it may not be worth it for reasons already made known, but a well put together beta/beta events will help your next title develop into something with a positive ending, rather than everyone waiting to see what went wrong. Not to mention it’s going to be a must have in order to get nearly as many pre-orders as Brink got, considering the old fans are a tad more cautious this time round.

Likely?
I dont think so - not if ive read b/w the lines correctly.

Fixed that for you.

  6. I don’t think they don’t need help from Beth. he story and elements needed for a solid single player campaign are already there, they simply need to flesh it and implement it better.

  7. Open world really isn’t how I see Brink’s single player playing out. Just have a good, engaging campaign that is separate from the multiplayer.

  8. People do not necessarily want unique gamemodes. Look at Battlefield? People have been playing nothing but Conquest for years. Look at games like Halo and COD? Of all the modes they offer, simple DM and TDM are the most popular. As long as a multiplayer game is polished and properly balanced, the rest (players, community) will come naturally.

  9. Well, this goes without saying. Usually when a sequel is made, it introduces new content in some form or another. As for specifics, I would say deeper character development (skill trees would be nice) and females characters (to avoid another onslaught of complaints.)

I think SD should incorporate into Brink, the shooting mechanics and gameplay from their past games but still feature enough new material for it to stand on its own. I think a big flaw with Brink was that SD bit off more than they could chew - They had this monumental goal/task in front of them, with limited resources to accomplish it. I say take what you know works and then start from there. Take the shooting mechanics and gameplay from past ET games and then add the RPG-esque mechanics over top, this way it plays enough like an ET game at its core, so fans will be happy, while still being original enough to be its own game.

Assuming the next title is on idtech5, its been stated (I believe by Carmack) that the engine is not that great with open world type of games. cough

It has to be first-person-perspective, in my humble opinion.

CTF is cool.

How about making n releasing “the impossible missions”? I contemplate single player maps / multi player maps where the individual/team fights bots, to complete a series of missions. However, these missions are so hard that they are virtually impossible. When they are released, everyone replies “This. Is. Madness!” Market this as the impossible/inconceivable missions - players (such as I) would take that personal and try even harder to beat the maps. Then, perhaps, after a year, when the community has suffered, analyzed, and discussed these inconceivable missions, someone/some team beats the map. The difference between these maps and any current maps today in any game, is that these new maps are made and marketed as “just impossible - do not even try - we made then just for fun, to see how far you would get, but, surely, noone can beat these maps”.

(tangoliber) #17

I thought id said that they won’t be licensing idtech5 out to other developers. Maybe Splash Damage still gets it because of their history with id…I don’t know.

It will be interesting to see what feedback is used if and when a Brink 2 is made. Some things Brink was never gonna have, like a single player-only portion. Other ways they could flesh out the story is with supplemental stuff in the form of Novels or Comics. The meat and bones of Brink is a Team-based multiplayer action.

Width and height, you forgot those.
